Night fell and everyone was asleep, all but one. It was very quiet as I snuck out of my home to the surface. It was a long swim to the surface and an even longer swim to the nearest city. Well it is long for any human, it only took me two minutes, and it would take a human ten minutes to get above the spot of meddomia and another ten to reach it under the sea. Tonight I was not going to go the nearest city but at least I got to go above the surface. I start head back down when I hear a speed boat in the distance. I look around to see if I can see it, I turn to my right and see a speed boat coming head long straight at me!! I freeze in fright, it feels like I am there forever, frozen and staring. I don't know what but at the last moment I get pulled under the water and there in front of me is my MUM and DAD!!
I am so embarrassed. The whole time I am swimming back down I am thinking 'what will my parents do?' over and over again. As we get home my parents turn around and glare at me, I lower my head in shame, I can't look at them. But I know what is going to happen next, and right on queue they start to yell and shout at me telling me that I have been a very bad girl, I keep my head down not daring to look at them. As they are yelling I am thinking of how they know where I had gone and that I had gone. I realized that they were looking at me, DARN! How long have they been looking at me? I look at my mum and dad with an innocent look on my face. I ask my parents to repeat what they had just said, my dad looks like he is about to explode but then my mum repeats the question in a kind but firm voice, "Serafina, you need to learn to be responsible and to be able to follow rules that have been set for you, will I be able to trust that you will follow the rules?" I go to protest but dad cuts me off with a warning glance. I look at my mum in the eyes and say "mum I am 50 years old, I want to be able to do things that I want to do and when I want to."
