Kat's POV

The last day of school was finally here and I was scouring the school looking for Avaree with a flyer in my hand. The last day of school party was being held at Alex's house while his parents were out of town for business. "AVAREE!" I caught her by the arm and pulled her as I saw her walking out of Chem class. "Are you going tonight?" I held up the flyer and she took it from my hands.

"Will there be cute girls there?"

"Probably? I need a companion, come on," I begged. She nodded and gave in before walking with me to lunch. We got our bagged snacks out of our locker and headed to the football field to sit under the bleachers as we watched the team and the cheerleaders practice on the large grassy area. "Do you wanna meet there or go together?"

"Together, I don't need to search for you in a crowd full of people."

After we had lunch, it was announced over the intercom that we were all free to go home and start our summer. Remember that scene where everyone in High School Musical 2 ran out to the front of the school? Yeah, that's exactly what happened. Avaree and I made it out alive from that stampede thankfully and we walked home. We had a long time to get ready so we stayed in my room for a little bit and watched Alice in Wonderland and a few episodes of Orange is the New Black before she had to leave and get ready. I had a few hours left before I had to get ready so I walked down to the café to get myself an iced latte and surprise Avaree with a extra-sweetened peach green tea. I ran into a few of my classmates there before heading out of the café. "Are you going to Alex's party tonight, Kat?"

"Yeah, I just came to grab some drinks for Ava and me; I'm gonna go get ready though. I'll see you in a few?" I asked Cara who was sipping her iced passion tea. She nodded waved me off. As I was on my way home, I saw someone walking along the same path as mine to get home, I barely recognized him with his oversized tee shirt and snapback on his head, holding a skateboard under his arm. I let my eyes wander off to the scenery of my way home, the starting of the trees coming into view. Every few minutes I would glance over to the boy on the other side of the street, riding his skateboard with a cigarette hanging from his lips and wondered who he was and why I hadn't seen him before. He took a turn down the adjacent street of mine which was the same direction Ava lived. I hope it didn't seem like I was following him but hey, I need to drop off her drink. I quickly crossed the street and ran to the first house on the block. I grabbed the key from the potter and unlocked the door before sticking it back under the flower bed, wiping my hand on my shorts. "AVA!" I called out. I heard water running so I assumed she was in the shower. I went upstairs, dropped her drink on her nightstand, and rummaged through her closet. The water shut off a few minutes later as I was picking out her grey skinnies and a multi-colored flannel. "What the fuck, Kat?" she exclaimed a little startled.

"Oh hey; I brought you your favorite," I pointed to the drink on her coaster.

"Thanks... But why are you in my closet...again?"

"Picking out something for you to wear plus I wanted to borrow your vans because I can't find mine."

"Oh. Funny, I was planning on wearing that flannel tonight. Just with shorts," she mumbled, walking over to her drawers.

"Nononono, skinny jeans are better. Harder to take off so you can't fuck around," I mumbled softly.

"Oh come on! It's summer, I ca—"

"Not going to watch you get hurt and I'm not ruining my knuckles to punch someone either," I said, ripping her white muscle tee off the hanger. "Wear the wine colored lace bralette—"

"But will it match with the flannel?"

"You're right... The violet one."

"Gotcha. Shoes?"
