Guys, it's finally arrived. The 58th day. I want to dedicate this chapter to everyone who supported and read 58 Days With Parker. It's been fun writing it c: So anyways, this is the second to last chapter.
Day 58
"Please, please, please pick up..." Aspyn pleaded to the phone.
The phone continued to ring, and ring, and ring. Finally, she clicked the end call button and sighed.
"Nothing's wrong, nothing's wrong, nothing's wrong..." She mumbled halfheartedly to herself.
Aspyn had woken up in the middle of the night with this weird feeling. The weird feeling had plagued her the rest of the day. Call it instinct or intuition or whatever, but she was positive that something had gone wrong with Parker. She didn't know what, but she knew something had happened to him. The past week with him had been great- perfect even. But, nothing can stay perfect for long. Maybe he got into a fight, or got arrested, or got in a car crash, or something....
She had been trying to call him all morning, but he never answered. Sitting around and worrying would do neither of them any good, so she decided to go over to Mrs. Stevenson's home and see if he's there.
Practically sprinting the whole way, Aspyn made it in four minutes. She wanted to barge into the house, but she made herself ring the doorbell and wait.
Waiting was torture when her mind was running wild, but what other choice did she have? After two minutes of waiting and no one coming to the door, Aspyn tried the doorbell again.
After more waiting and not a sound in the house, Aspyn stalked away from the door and started jogging down the street. She didn't know where to go. Home? No.
Just when Aspyn was ready to burst from the crazy building up inside her; her phone rang. Her hand shot inside her pocket and grabbed her phone.
She didn't even look at the Caller ID as she answered it. "Hello?"
"Hello, Aspyn." It was Mrs. Stevenson. Margret. Not Parker.
"Hi, Mrs. Stevenson. What's up?" Aspyn tried to sound like she wasn't freaking out.
"Oh, Aspyn... I wish you didn't have to find out this way." Margret's voice was somber.
Aspyn's heart sped up as she asked the obvious. "Parker? Is he okay?"
"No, dear, he's not." Margret sounded even more solemn.
"What... what's wrong?" Her voice shook as she asked.
"He's in the hospital, dear."
A strangled sound emanated from Aspyn's mouth. "Wha-what happened?"
Margret avoided her question and continued speaking. "I just thought you should know... I know you want to, but you shouldn't come here. He's in bad shape."
Aspyn clicked off the call and let tears freely stream down her face. Her brain was cloudy and she could barely remember the way to the hospital. Whatever Margret said, Aspyn was ignoring it. There was no way Aspyn was going to sit home and wait to hear if Parker was okay or not.
She ran the whole way to the hospital, it's a small town.
She ran into the admittance area and almost grabbed one of the nurses. "Parker Marston! Where is he?!"
A nurse looked at her pensively and pointed upstairs. "Marston? He's in ICU. Only immediate family allowed."
Aspyn didn't bother to thank her; she just ran for the elevator. She stood there panting and tapping her foot in annoyance. Waiting for the elevator was taking too long so she ran for the stairs.
