I kicked a pebble from underneath my shoe across the road. I watched as it kept bouncing until it hit a mailbox, bouncing a bit back. It was a summer day in Australia; easily one of the hottest days of the year. But I refused to move out from my house's sidewalk until me and my three best friends decided on what to do today.

One of my best friends, Luke, squinted his eyes, holding a news paper above his head as he tried to shield himself from the sun. "Hey, Ash, can we go back inside and play a round of FIFA? I don't want to be the only kid again at school who has a severe case of sun burn."

We all stared at Luke, who had a bit of skin peeling from his nose. We all bursted out laughing at the memory.

Last summer, Luke had decided to go swimming the day before he began school, insisting he had worn enough sun block for the day. Twenty-four hours later and he was sitting in the schools nurse's office, waiting for his mum to bring him his special sun burn cream. It was all too embarrassing for him to say the least, he had adapted the nickname 'boggle' for the rest of the month, taking in that when Luke had gone swimming, he had put on goggles. They had left noticeable circular shapes around his eyes, appearing them to pop out.

Luke had thrown his newspaper at our other best friend, Calum, before crossing his arms. "It's not funny! Trying having the lunch ladies call you Boggle." He had rubbed a hand through his blond, sandpaper hair as he stormed off, leaving only me, Calum, and Michael.

We turned back to the street, squinting as we tried to carry on some humor from earlier, but our mouths were too dry to laugh. Michael had chirped in, only to realize he was going to complain, "Man, this summer is a bust. Even the thongs on my feet are begging for action. They're wilting away with the heat."

Calum sighed, grabbing Luke's newspaper to cover his jet black hair. He nodded, laying back onto the green grass on my lawn. "There's nothing to do because we're broke. All the fun things cost money."

Michael nodded, accidentally touching the glob of sun block on his nose. He laid back along with Calum, making me want to join. Maybe the coolness from the grass will stop the pool of sweat forming on my back.

"Don't worry guys. We don't have to worry about money once our band sells out stadiums world wide," I added, closing my eyes.

"You mean the band we just started last month? We don't even have a name for it yet, how can we possibly sell out even an audience of family members?" Calum chuckled.

I smiled at Calum's way of negative inspiration but continued talking, "Either way. We're gonna be huge. Successful. So successful, we won't even have to worry about money ever again. I mean, what could go wrong?"

"We could end up working in fast food restaurants" Michael laughed.

"Hi, welcome to KFC, what can i get for you today?"
