Candy panted heavily, sweat rolling down her face. Just the same reoccurring dream, the one that never seemed to leave her alone. The albino sighed, stretching her arms into the sky, tears rolling down her cheeks.

She stifled a sob, and Katherine rolled over in his bunk. "Psst! Candy!" Whispered the boy the s's hissed out, his voice a bit shaky.

Candy bit her lip, and she pretended to not acknowledge him. Katherine, although he was blind, could tell she was awake. (Besides the fact that he could read her mind) "What's wrong?"

Candy rolled her eyes, and with a whispered voice filled with attitude, she whispered back "Nothing!" and with that being said, she laid back on the bed.

Katherine knew better, but only because he just read her thoughts. "You want me to lay down with you?"

Candy sniffled, her back facing him. "N-No.." "We're having a mission tomorrow anyways." She hugged her pillow trying to keep from sleeping again. "Mama...Daddy?" She whispered, her eyes closing, as she sniffled into her pillow.

That morning, she arose, most of her teammates were completely dressed in gear from head to toe. The girl tied her hair into twin tails behind her head, and she pulled on what used to be an old private school uniform. Her hands shook as she pinched the clasp on her necklace. Looping it on, she gazed down at the golden heart locket. Sweetness had blessed it with some magic to help her breath the radioactive air outside.

Silence sighed, a lick of flame slipping from his mouth. People like Silence and Sweetness didn't need such charms on themselves. Their reasoning, Candy had no idea. The albino examined her skin, and she coated her bare thighs in mud. This would keep them from getting harmed any further, so said Silhouette.

Silhouette was dressed in an old military outfit,and Illumination wore her usual karate shirt and pants. Katherine looked like a cowboy in his red plaid shirt and blue jeans. Sweetness wore a long tattered black robe.

Darkness fixed her shirt to cover her neck, and she giggled when it exposed her stomach. Candy groaned, her body still haunted and tired from the nightmare she had. Darkness glanced at Candy, one eyebrow was higher than the other.

"You okay there Candy?" She questioned, folding her arms over her chest.

Candy's eyes had dark circles underneath them, her limbs were bruised and all she felt like doing was crying. "Yeah. I'm fine." She gave a smile, hiding all of her fear and pain.

It had been so long ago, and yet, it left her with a scar. Her own mother had killed her father. And then Silhouette, in defense of the poor girl whom he heard the screams from, rushed into the house and tried to rip the gun from the woman's arms, resulting in an accidental shot and her mother on the ground.

Candy smiled at her now 'big-brother', and she nods again. "I'm fine."

Darkness grins. "Good! Because we're getting ready to kick some nightmare and shadow butt!" She pumped her fists giddily, Silence holding his hand up in agreement.

Candy smiles a bit, although shaky. "Let's do this!" Her composure returned, but her thoughts still lagged in the back of her head.

Can I ever get over this?

~~~
Out on the dry sandy land Candy and her team trudged through the horrific landscape. Wrecked cars trailed the already cracked road and Katherine chuckled as Silence's eyes went wide at a red bloodied corpse, hidden beneath a hood of what Candy could guess was part of a car.
Silhouette rose a finger to his lips, silencing the blind male and giving a daring look to Silence. Silence rolled his eyes and crouched with everyone else.
"There it is..." Whispered Silhouette, his eyes falling upon a large creature in the distance. Candy squinted to see the figure in the red sunlight, and suddenly-
"W-" Katherine covered her mouth his hand. Candy mentally rolled her eyes and she examined the horrifyingly fascinating creature.
It looked a man, with mostly human features- but instead of its own flesh it had a green, slimy looking coat. Its eyes were empty and dried blood oozed from its mouth.
Her thoughts ran back to the corpse from earlier.
It stripped the body clean....
Silence scowled his head shaking in anger. Silence was indeed a nightmare, but luckily enough he didn't thirst for human blood- or have a corrupt soul such as the one before them. His golden eyes flickered back and forth from Darkness to the nightmare. He couldn't help but be insecure about this-
Especially around the ones he loved.
Katherine removed his hand from it's resting position and patted Silhouette's back. "Game plan?"
Silhoeutte nods.
"Oh yeah, I got a plan..."
"I always have a plan..."
