It had been a moon or so since she first joined WindClan. Bloodpaw thought it was a day of hope and joy. But she was wrong.

It gave her a worse life than she could imagine.

The day after Hawkswoop taught her the Warrior Code and the way the clans worked, Birdstar had called a meeting. Bloodpaw-then known as Nova-was excited and her heart beat out of her chest in joy. But, Birdstars glimmer of hate shined in her eyes during the ceremony.

She then lost hope.

It was right of Bloodpaw to loose hope too, because Birdstar ended up naming her Bloodpaw, causing most of the clan to burst into laughter. Birdstar then named her the medicine cat apprentice, and smirked straight at Bloodpaw when she did.

"This is so I can keep the prophecy from coming true. To keep you away from hurting anyone, and make sure I give you a name based on the destiny given to you before your birth," Birdstar had told Bloodpaw after the ceremony.

"Bloodpaw! Are you even paying attention?"

Bloodpaw snapped back to reality to face Cloudygaze, her mentor. The blind tom snarled, annoyed,"Daydreaming again aren't you?"

"Possibly," Bloodpaw muttered.

Cloudygaze only nodded. Bloodpaw turned to him and asked,"What happened at the Moonpool? Since I was allowed there by Birdstar..Probably the same with the gathering coming up as well."

"Well, everything was fine. RiverClan does have a new apprentice though, named Stormpaw. Nothing else was said and we just visited StarClan in our dreams," Cloudygaze answered as he organized the borage they received into a neat pile.

"I would've loved to go." Bloodpaw turned away, hate burning in her eyes as she spotted Birdstar chatting with Hawkswoop in the middle of camp. Maybe I wouldn't have liked to go anyways. It would remind me of the curse Birdstar believes I am, Bloodpaw thought.

"Can you at least help for once," Cloudygaze snapped, impatiently,"All you have been doing ever since your first day is stare off into the distance and stay up all night!"

Bloodpaw snapped her head back around, annoyed with her mentor. "What should I help with them," She asked.

"Go check on the elders and fetch them some prey on your way there," Cloudygaze ordered.

Bloodpaw whirled around, rolling her eyes,"As you say."

She marched out of the den. Anger made her fur prickle and she spotted Birdstar walk by. Birdstar caught her gaze with a normal glare. Bloodpaw glanced away, snorting under her breath.

Bloodpaw arrived at the elders den. The old den was worn out, and moss was hanging from the top. When she entered, She quickly realized the small, rays of light peeping in from the holes in the roof. This really needs to be repaired.

Immediately, She spotted Barkrip turn to him, Spottedbelly at his side. "Hello, Bloodpaw," Barkrip croaked.

"Cloudygaze wishes for me to check on you," Bloodpaw dipped her head, impatiently stepping forward. She hated listening to the elders talk. Especially Spottedbelly, who would go on and on about her apprentice days.

Barkrip allowed Bloodpaw to examine his fur. She skimmed her muzzle over his pelt, her eyes in slits as she looked for ticks. Bloodpaw spotted one crawling past her muzzle. She opened her jaws and hooked the tick into her teeth, chewing it to pieces.

Spottedbelly watched, tilting her head. "You don't eat it do you?"

Before she could speak, Bloodpaw swallowed it. Spottedbelly snorted in disgust. Now, She doesn't have to tell me why I shouldn't eat it and what I should do. But..ew!

Bloodpaw finished examining Barkrips pelt and padded over to Spottedbelly. The she-cat turned away, lashing her tail over Bloodpaws muzzle.

"Don't you worry about checking my pelt. You have other things to do then continuing to just check the elders. If Birdstar wants you to be a medicine cat, then she should notify Cloudygaze to let you do more then just check the elders," Spottedbelly protested.

Bloodpaw nodded her head. "It's not like Birdstar even wants me here anyways," She growled under her breath.

"What was that?" Barkrip asked, his ears perked.

"Nothing, just agreeing with Spottedbelly," Bloodpaw turned back to Spottedbelly. "Thank you."

"Also, I'm going to speak to Birdstar before the Gathering," Spottedbelly meowed as she stretched,"I'm going to make sure you attend your first Gathering tonight."

"You don't have to-"

"Your welcome," Spottedbelly interrupted, smiling. Bloodpaw smiled back. Although Spottedbelly was talkative, she always knew what was on Bloodpaws mind and helped her through her anger.

Bloodpaw dipped her head goodbye to the elders and padded out, heading to the medicine cat den.

Birdstar had called Bloodpaw to her den. Bloodpaw bounded over to her den, a lump in her throat. Great..I wonder what she has called me for this time!

Bloodpaw entered slowly, spotting Birdstar glaring straight into her gaze. Birdstars small body was muscular, and she used her lean legs to make herself look bigger.

"Spottedbelly talked to me earlier about you attending the Gathering tonight," Birdstar grumbled.

Bloodpaw glanced down at her paws. "I-"

"She's convinced me to let you go. I can't keep you from exactly everything," Birdstar spat as if it was a curse.

Bloodpaws eyes lit up in excitement. Thank StarClan! Spottedbelly thank you so much!

"But," Birdstar started, hope fading from Bloodpaws eyes. "You will not be allowed to have full conversations with cats from other clans besides the other medicine cats."

Bloodpaw flicked her tail in annoyance. Of course...there's always something else.

"Just be happy that I even let you go," Birdstar snorted, turning away and simply dismissing Bloodpaw with a flick of her tail.

Bloodpaw whirled around and padded our of the den. She spotted Spottedbelly outside the elders den, smiling at her.

Thank you StarClan for giving me one cat who will stand up for me. But..there is another cat I know out there, Bloodpaw smiled back at the she-cat then glanced up at the fading blue sky, Slate...I hope your okay..
