Addicted

Chapter 9, just the kids

Marshall-

*The next day*

I sit on the couch when I hear a car come up my driveway. 

Kim.

I walk to the door, open it and step out, and walk door the steps to see my girls.Kim gets out but doesn't look at me or anything. She opens the one of the doors and Whitney and Hailie slide out with their backpacks. Laney gets out from the front seat, slams the door, and walks to Kim. She says something to her and kisses her cheek. Laney walks to me and smiles and I smile to.

"Hey Laney, how are you, sweetie?" I ask as I hug her.

"Good Uncle Marshall," She says, and walks to the house.

Now it's Whitney's turn. She lumbers to me, grin from ear to ear.She sets down her bag, and gives me a me hug.

"Hi Daddy! Mommy got me this cool doll today. She has this cool dress, and this flower in her hair and-"

"Whitney, how about you go inside? Go unpack, I wanna see your doll."

She grabs her bag and runs inside, and Hailie is done with Kim and walks over to me.

"Hey baby, how are you doing?" I ask her, and give her a big hug.

"Great," She says. 

"Good baby, that's what I like to hear ."

She walks inside and now I have to deal with Kim.

Kim narrows her eyes, " What happened to your eye?"

" I fell."I lie, " In the door."

"You fell in the door?" She asks.

"Yep."

"Does it hurt?" Her eyes soften,and  I wonder why I got a divorce  with her. I say this now, but in about 3 days, I thank God for giving me the idea.

"No."

she nods, and rattles off a list.

Whitney has the sniffles and needs to go to bed early, Laney is being a bit moody, Hailie is being a pain, etc., etc. 

Then she nods and swallows, which means she down. She turns back to her car and drives away, and I hear from the house:

"Daddy a girl named Camilla is calling you, is she Camilla from the crazy stripe book? Maybe she wanted Dr.Dre to get better, you know? Those stripes?
