The clock began to chime, letting everyone in the building know that it was time for the shift to begin. And that included the animatronics. They began to stir, waiting for the opportunity for movement. Two in particular, were fidgeting with anticipation.
(Mabel's POV)
Finally! Tonight was the night when they could actually move! By default, she and her partner we're turned off on the first night when a new nighguard is employed. She peeked past the green curtains that covered her side of the Mystery Cove. She watched the cameras, looking to see if the red light was on. She had figured out, after many nightguards, that the red light meant that they were looking in the specified area. Surprisingly, the light was off. She carefully crept out, careful not to disturb the other animatronics which lay nearby. She began walking towards the East Hallway, being as quiet as possible. She sprinted as soon as she saw the door was still open. But as she did so, the door slammed shut in her face. She began slamming her fists violently on the metal door, but gave up when she knew it wouldn't budge. She walked back to the Cove, her shoulders hanging low. She lay back against the wall, hidden from sight by the green curtain which was dappled in stars. She closed her eyes, knowing that even doing what she had done took a great deal of energy. It would take a bit before she regained strength. So all she did was lay back and rest.
(Stanford's POV)
Standford shivered as his mechanical body began to stir. He had heard the sound of one of the animatronics move, and he was guessing it was either Mabel or Stanley. He hopped off the stage, his brown coat waving as he did so. He made his way over to the kitchen, knowing that the cameras were unable to function correctly. After all, who had said his gun needed to be fake? He began shifting the pots and pans around, occasionally dropping one. He frowned at the kitchen tools, which now laid on the cold floor. He picked them up and placed them back onto the kitchen counter as quietly as possible, which was still considerably loud. He walked out of the kitchen and into the dining area, where he proceeded over to the closest camera, and began to stare into it. The light went on a few times, because he knew as well as anybody there, the light want the cameras we're currently being used to view the area. He stayed like this until 3:44 am, in which he moved on. He heard the footsteps of another animatronics, but they we're quicker. He guessed that on the Cove animatronics was going for it.(Dipper's POV)
He sluggily opened his eyes, one pitch black with what seemed like a small white light as it's pupil. He stood up, his gears struggling to function correctly. He had been out of order and deemed unsafe after... No. He wasn't going to dwell to deep into that. He stood up, his eyes blinking as he adjusted to the dark. He walked over to his left and moved the curtains to find Mabel sitting, her eyes drooping. He guessed that she had attempted to see the night guard, but failed to do so. He sighed, which seems strange considering he didn't need to breathe. But he didn't need to. He could do it if he wanted. Mabel looked in his direction, her face lightning up."Hey Dipper!" she said playfully.
"Hey Mabel." he said, with a hint of laughter in his voice.
These were the only times when he felt happy. He was usually thinking about how things could have gotten so bad. He pondered why he was here of all places to be. Happy moments were rare, and when they did happen, they didn't last very long. Dipper walked back to his side of their small little area and peeked through his blue curtain. The light was off, so he decided to run for it. He quickly sprinted towards the office door, seeing it was still open. He slowed only a bit so he wouldn't make much noise. It worked and somehow, Dipper managed to slip through the gap left by the opened door, which looked like a gaping maw ready to close down on him at any point in time. The nightguard jumped, fell of his chair, and began scrambling towards the corner, which was considerably stupid. As Dipper neared, the nightguard, labeled Mike Schmidt by his name tag, grabbed the closest object to him and chucked it at the animatronics, fear, anger, and pain in his eyes. The boy ducked, looking to see what the flying item was. It was a motherboard, which he guessed must of been torn out of a computer after being horrifyingly dismantled.
(Nobody's POV)
He turned back to face the nightguard, but saw tears forming in his eyes. Unsure of what to do, he hesitantly reached towards the frightened adult, pulling back only to reach once more. As his hand neared his shoulder, the man flinched and closed his eyes, awaiting the pain he would feel in his arm. Instead, he felt the soothing and caressing touch, which calmed him down. He opened his eyes to see the animatronics with a sympathetic look on his face. The tears stopped falling, and he relaxed, but he still didn't trust the innocent looking machine. The boy pulled away and began walking towards the door when he heard the cry of the guard."Wait! I need to know, why didn't you stuff me into a Mystery suit? Isn't that what you do? Murder people on an endless spree?"
The animatronics didn't respond, but instead kept walking into the hallway. Before he fully left the room however, he turned his head so the nightguard could see his face.
"Who told you this lie?" he asked, his voice not showing a hint of hostility.
"Uh... A friend told me he heard a guy got stuffed into a suit after the animatronics got to him. I never really knew if it was true, and the only reason I came to work here was so I could get money to maintain a house." He stared at his feet, fearful for what was going to happen. The animatronics responded with a simple
"Well that's not true"
And he proceeded to walk away.
-------------------------------------------------------------Hey guys! I just wanted to add this little note at the end: Oh my god I put dialogue in the story! I originally wasn't planning to have dialogue until.the next chapter, but apperantely, my body just said "I know that this wasn't the original plan, but you gotta have some voices so it doesn't sound like a boring story!" Thank you so much for reading this story!
