Chapter 2:

The familiar squeak of the iron door made me shiver. "Bring her in." A horse voice rang in the hall, a sound I knew all too well. Taking a deep breath I allowed the humans to drag me into the small room I was dreading of entering.

The smell of bleach and fresh blood filled my nose. The humans tried to keep the place clean, and the bleach fumes dulled their senses of any trace of blood. But for a vampire? The smell of our kind on the floor and walls was hard to ignore.

I stood there refusing to open my eyes; the inside of my eyelids were much more pleasant than the world surrounding me. The cool metal floor that I was standing on was sticky, and I didn't dare to open my eyes to find out why.

The loud bang of the iron door made me jump. The sound of the lock clicking in place made my heart ache. That door was my only escape to freedom, the only thing blocking me from the world, no one would come to my rescue now, and my screams will be ignored.

Someone shoved me forward; I stumbled onto the ground, my hands and knees trying to make an effort to hold my body up. But they were so weak they began to shake and in a moment I was lying on the cold ground, face pressed hard against its sticky surface.

I blinked against the bright florescent light that the humans were shining down on me. My eyes watered as I continued to stare at the blank gray wall. Everything about this room was boring. Save for the blood that decorated the walls after a torturing.

There was a small desk in the corner that had a silver tray sitting on top of it, providing all the weapons the "doctors" apparently needed to get my blood.

Opposite of the corner was a small sink, which dripped slightly, the padded sound coming from the fresh water made my mouth hurt. It reminded me of the sound of blood dripping from my victim as I drained them dry. I would lick my lips if it weren't for the muzzle attached to my face.

A man in a white coat and blue pants kneeled down next to me with a long needle type device. He smiled wickedly at me. "Raven, so nice to see you again. And how are you." His eyes were like ice, blue as the sea and burning like fire. His hair was done up in a neat ponytail, and was so blond it appeared white under the harsh lighting. His lips, which were the color of a newborn rose, curled up as he continued to stare down at me.

I may not be able to move, and he and I both know I can't talk with this new invention on my mouth, but the one thing I can do it give him the best glare I could produce. I stared at him hard, hoping my eyes looked menacing. But knew all too well that just like my hair and my eyes, my ability to create fear in humans has faded as well.

The doctor laughed smiling even wider as he brought the needle down to my throat. He wasn't piercing the skin, yet, but the cold device made me shiver in fear.

Another man came into my view then. I knew him from my previous drainings. He was the one who clubbed me over the head my first day in the blood cage. His face was hard as stone, staring back at me with such hatred it made my stomach do flips.

His eyes were a bright green, which reminded me of trees under a blazing sun. His fingers were long and powerful, I'd once seen him pick up a vampire and throw it across the room like it was a ragdoll. His shoulders were broad and just as powerful. Packed with muscle and strength that I never dared to test. His hair was a dark brown, so dark it looked almost black.

His name I'll never forget either. Sampson. This means having the strength of God, and the power of the sun. He was named this for a reason.

My body shivered as Sampson continued to stare at me with those powerful eyes. I felt like an ant under a magnify glass whenever he was around. I had proven my power to him once, but he had beaten that down as if it were nothing. There was a reason he is like this, a reason all humans on this island were.
