Useless authors note: I don't own supernatural obviously, or destiel would be canon, I'm just borrowing the characters or whatever, it's like 1 in the morning here and I'm writing this. They are at a motel on a case, Cas has some questions.
Sam and Dean were on a hunt for a ghost of a abandoned house, anyone going near mysteriously dying horribly. The house was in Dallas, Texas. (I live in Texas so why not?) So it was a pain in the ass driving from the bunker all the way there, once Sam and Dean arrived, it was night, and they were too exhausted, resulting in them going to a shitty motel, as always, and planing to passing out on the dusty motel beds. Sam just came in and collapsed face first on the bed, quickly drifting into blissful unconsciousness. Dean decided he'd at least get a beer, remembering his brother bringing disgusting-green-slime-smoothies, instead of the cold drink Dean could get a nice buzz on. Dean teasing his brother with a snarky remark to empty his disappointment at the beer free cooler, "watching your weigh Samantha?" His brother grumpily slurping and responding, "shut up." Dean chuckled at the memory. He went out to get his precious beer, returning to the motel. He was barely taking a sip of the refreshing drink when he turned around to find blue eyes staring intently back at him only three centimeters away. Dean gasped at the intrusion of space, dropping the drink. "Hello, Dean" the gravely voice (Jesus it's so cliche fanfiction by this point, please bare with me and keep reading) Dean knew all too well said. Dean gave a relieved sigh seeing all too well it was only Cas. Dean realized he was too close too the angel to be considered any space but intimate at all. Dean went into the often said phrase. "Cas, personal space." "Of course, my apologies Dean." The angel responded, taking back three steps. Dean let out a frustrated, yet disappointed sigh at the broken beer bottle. "Let me." Cas said, making the glass and bubbling liquid disappear. "Thanks" Dean responded, staring at the ground were the shattered beer once lay. He looked up, saying, "Cas, what do you need?" Questioning the angel for his guest appearance.
(I'm going to put conversations like this)
Cas: I have a question for you.
Dean: What is it?
Cas: What is love? (Can somebody yell CLICHE FANFIC, bare with me friend)
Shit. Shit is what Dean thought because he has never been in a relationship longer than a month, until Lisa, and he's not sure about how he felt about her anyways. Stubbornness took over him from worry.
Dean: Why do you want to know?
Dean sat in a nearby chair, thinking, why the hell does he want to know?
Cas: I was reading the articles for the people who died at the abandoned house.
Dean: And that makes you question what love is because...
Cas: There was an interview with one of the victims spouses.
Cas sat next to Dean, continuing his story.
Cas: They were telling how much they loved them, how sad they where because they died, how in love they were. And I do not understand the term, "love". I know that it is a chemical reaction humans experience to carry on the practice of intercourse, so they may proceed in causing offspring, but how humans put it, it's something else, and I want to know what it is.
Cas looks at Dean, his eyes squinted, in focused confusion, his head tilted to match.
Dean feels something, he doesn't know what, as his friend looks at him, probably nothing, it's just a usual feeling when Cas looks at him, probably awkwardness or something.
Dean: Well, it's when...
Dean was thinking hard, trying to piece the words for the angel. Looking back at him.
Dean: It's when, you want to be near someone all the time, 'cause you care about them, a lot, you'd do anything for them, you really like them, you like them so much it hurts, you like them so much it scares you.
Dean pushed his face the smallest fraction nearer Cas's.
Dean: And your so happy when your near them, just looking at them, always wanting to be with them.
Another fraction.
Cas is still squinting in confusion, head tilted. Dean tilts his head.
Dean: They can be gone one second and you miss them.
Another fraction.
Dean licks his lips. Not realizing what he did.
Dean: You'd do anything for them to be happy, and you keep falling more and more in love with them every time you see them, and you always want to kiss them.
Another fraction.
Cas: Why would you want such contact with them?
Another fraction.
Dean: 'Cause, it's like fireworks each time it happens, 'cause you like them so much and you can't help it, it feels amazing.
Dean looks at Cas's lips, for the quickest of seconds not realizing what he did.
Cas: Dean?
Cas's face calms from the squinting confusion to a more focused, serious face.
Another fraction.
Dean: Yea, Cas.
Cas: Do you think angels can fall in love?
Dean: Anythings possible, right?
Dean chuckles.
Another fraction.
Only 2 inches away from the others face.
Dean feels a weird feeling telling him to get nearer.
The hell, he thinks, nearer where?
You know exactly where, a voice in his head mocks him.
The voice is pushed away as quickly as it came.
Dean wanted to get nearer.
A thought he ignored.
They just stared at each other like that for a good solid minute.
Until Sam woke up.
Sam groaned alerting his awakening he slowly got up to use the restroom by the time he reached Dean and Cas he only caught a glimpse of their starring contest when they separated, Dean coughing as he stepped away, and Cas sitting quietly, confusion evident on his face.
Sam: What's going on?
Dean quickly answered.
Dean: Cas was just asking me a question.
Cas nodded, it was the truth, he had no idea why the hunter was flustered at the unexpected arrival of his brother.
They were only simply looking at each other. He did feel a strange feeling to close the small space he and Dean had, he didn't know how exactly in what way, but he wanted it closed.
Sam: Alright.
Sam didn't know what to think, the angel and his brother would always stare at each other. But... This stare off seemed different, like something he interrupted was going to happen, he wondered what would have happened if he had let them continue for just a couple more minuets, what would they be doing?
Sam didn't want to jump to conclusions.... There was a heavy amount of tension between his brother and the angel.
Sam: Well I'm going to use the bathroom so...
Dean: Yea, ok.
Sam went to the bathroom finally, unable to handle it longer, he shouldn't have had those six smoothies, he berated himself.
Dean was confused. What the hell was he planing to do when he was that close to Cas's face.
Dean pushed it away, he was exhausted.
Dean: Goodnight Cas.
Cas: I'll watch over you.
Dean chuckled nervously.
Dean: Not gonna happen.
Cas's face turned hurtful.
Cas: Alright, if that's what you wish.
Dean: Wait, Cas.
Cas was about to fly by back to the bunker when Dean stopped him. Cas, confused replied.
Cas: Yes, Dean.
Dean was surprised he told the angel to wait, but even more sckocked at his next words.
Dean: You can, um, stay until I fall asleep, then you have to stop,
WHAT THE HELL DEAN. He shouted at himself mentally. Maybe he just felt bad for how hurt Cas looked, yea, that must be it. It's because you'll miss him and you know it you ignorant dick. A voice in his head said but he ignored completely.
Sam passed them and fell back asleep not asking questions.
Cas: Of course Dean.
Cas smiled at Dean allowing to watch over him.
Shit. Dean thought as he saw Cas smile, he must really be happy.
Dean: You get your freak on watching me sleep Cas, or what?
Dean said as he walked towards his own bed sheepishly.
Cas: No, I do not get my "freak" on watching you, I find you sleeping fascinating, and I want to protect you.
Dean felt his cheeks heat but he denied his own embarrassment starting to lay in bed to sleep.
He felt immediately insecure once he got comfortable Cas was on the side of his bed, staring.
Dean: Cas.
Cas: Yes, Dean?
Dean: Can you be at the end of my bed?
Cas: Of course.
Cas walked towards the end of Deans bed, and sat.
Dean felt the dip of the mattress. He slightly panicked, looking at Cas's face in the shadows.
Cas saw the panic on Deans face through the dark, reaching his calf, running it up and down slowly with his hand in a attempt to calm Dean.
Dean only panicked more, his face turning beet red from the contact, and even more red as his soiled mind mislead him, thinking Cas's hand was going higher than he thought, only for it to slip lower. He soon calmed down, the intimate touch relaxing.
Cas: Is this alright?
Cas quietly asked.
Dean: Y-yea. Just. Stop watching when I'm asleep.
Cas: Alright.
Dean had slowly drifted to sleep with Cas's hand still running down his left calf.
Dean had never slept better.Authors note: Well, that happened. This is so long I'm sorry, next chapter in a few days. It's like 4 in the morning, this took 3 hours to write, what the fuck? Time flies. Fucking Father Time im going to beat his ass one day.
