The sound of the night it's so refreshing and relaxing if you're willing to stop and listen to it closely. Nothing is moving but the lakes and the rivers murmur slowly in the night breeze. The stars were gathering together to make way on the sky's palace revolving around the gentle moon.
Every creature shall be asleep by now, though midnight's clock didn't struck, gone long ago in dreams' land possibly dreaming of being a princess or prince while fighting the most awful dragon and getting revenge on everybody who was wrong.
The houses' lights were off or dimmed by the trees' branches sinking them into the dark forest with unknown creatures lying on the grass whilst waiting for the perfect time to kill something as a dinner.
Everything was so silent and calm, or it shall be like this.
Inside a random pub, people were doing a lot of things but not sleeping. The cigarettes' smoke was floating in the air intertwining with the musical notes coming from the instruments. The laughter was now taking over the sad sobs of the ones who lost their bets.
Just men could be seen there but, actually, a girl was sitting at the furthest table next to an open window. The wind was blowing through her threads blocking her vision. Her hand reached the Soju bottle as she poured some into a little cup.
As the brown haired girl lifted the well curved cup, showing little scenes from war, some boys fixed her glassy eyes. They began to whisper things about her until the bartander stopped at their table sending them a death stare that could kill even the capricious ones. Then, he went to the girl's table sitting in front of her.
”Missy, is there anything you want to know? You've been sitting here doing nothing but just drinking for almost three hours. I'm worried about you. Where are your parents? They know you are here? What's your name?” The bartender asked.
The girl was bowing her head more and more as the man was asking her a lot of questions. When he wondered about her parents, the beauty in his front, grabbed her cup even tighter and bit her lower lip. She took a deep breath to empty her mind and heart and looked at the bartender. The cold like ice lips of her parted away as she answered.
”They can't know. They aren't with me anymore. No need to explain. My...my name is Park Cassie.”
”Cassie, why they can't know?”
”Mind your own business.” Cassie replied grumpy. ”I mean, it's nothing.”
”Are you sure? If you want to tell me something, just call me.”
The girl nodded slowly as her threads covered the sides of her little face. She shook her head and rested her chin in her palm while gazing outside the window.
The colour of her eyes were now turning pale as the full white moon reflected into them. Her breath was becoming heavy for some reason and soon she had little problems with breathing.
An unfamiliar, a strange noise caught Cassie's attention. She looked outside and saw a voluminous yet well-built silhouette of a boy. The girl's eyebrows raised as she thought how that boy could make such a sound.
To her surprise, the figure was going low and low and the features the boy's body had, weren't there anymore. It looked like a shady line who was sinking in the woods while howling. It must be just a wolf she thought yawning.
The clock finally struck midnight and as soon as the loud sound was heard, everybody started to hurry drinking what was left and rush outside the door. Even the bartender left without saying something and in no time, the girl was alone and the lamp on her table was the only light in the old pub.
Cassie gulped and wanted to stand up to leave right away but she wasn't really brave to do it. Somebody or something opened the door slowly and got in. The 'thing' smelled the place as the girl was making sure she is hidden enough. The tension that was in the pub could be cut so easily with a knife though, nobody was moving.
Thinking that the creature left already, Cassie left out a sigh but everybody could think it was too soon to do so. The strange 'thing' approached her with such an immense speed and forced her to press her back against the wall. You could think it was a creature, but in front of her, he looked like a charming boy.
They fixed each other while Cassie was holding her breath and the hot breath of the boy was touching the tip of her nose. Something told Cassie that this, this creature, it's not just a simple boy. The gaze he was emanating was strange and intimidating. It was like her mind was read because the creature approached her more and more.
”Huang Zi!”
A voice was heard shouting. Somehow, the boy or whatever, got scared and looked at the girl once more after he jumped outside the window. Cassie was still shocked because of what happened but when a boy turned on the lights, she breathed normally. The boy was walking towards her having his hands in the two pockets of his sleeveless jacket. The lights were making his blonde hair shine more than the sun and his facial features were so well defined.
”Yah, what are you doing here? Don't you know that after the clock strucks midnight you shall go home?” The boy asked with a raised tone.
”I...I'm sorry. I didn't know. I'm new here...” The girl said shyly.
”Oh really? I'm sorry if one of us scared you. I'm Kim Jong Hyo but I go by the name J-Hyo.” His voice was now cute while he asked another question.
”I'm Park Cassie.” She smiled.
J-Hyo offered to take her home so nothing else bad will happen again. She, without hesitation, agreed right away. Maybe the encounter with that strange creature scared the little girl for her entire life.
The boy was quite like how it was in that pub after everybody left and Cassie felt insecure. Small breezes of the night were hitting against her body making her shiver but not because she was feeling cold. She was rather scared for some reason. Cassie kept looking back to that pub though they were so far from it.
Cassie could hear her heart beating while she was tying her shoelace. J-Hyo continued to walk, not noticing that she stopped. A pair of cold eyes were watching every single move she was making. The girl stood up and wanted to run to J-Hyo but the sound of leaves dancing in the breeze made her stop. The same shady figure was making its way between the bushes without noticing her.
”Cassie, what are you looking at?”
J-Hyo's question surprised Cassie but she just smiled and came next to him. They reached an alley which seemed to be Cassie's house. The alley looked so old but it had a lot of beautiful flowers hanging by the walls. J-Hyo tripped because of a chair and almost fell down as Cassie laughed about it.
She entered her house and J-Hyo waved at her while leaving. Cassie wanted to close the door but she decided to look after him. When her eyes gazed along the alley, she couldn't see him anymore. With a confused expression, she closed the door.
