"Sorry, can't help you."
The Kazekage was known for being difficult... but this was ridiculous. When the Third Hokage had asked that they accompany a messenger it wasn't exactly a pleasing request. The job was to convince the Kazekage to hand over Naruto Uzumaki... easier said than done. Looking around, Kakashi wasn't surprised things were going horribly. Between his two students, Tenzo, and himself... there wasn't a lot of mediating power, only brute force and impatience.
"Lord Kazekage, I'm sure you agree with the Raikage to some degree. It's time for Uzumaki to go home..." Oh, how the messenger tried. Only to receive a relatively furious look from the red headed man in charge.
"Unsurprisingly, that idiot and I have very different views about what's right for Naruto-chan."
He sat there, working on paperwork, rarely looking up. But sadly, it didn't look like his guests were getting the message. Where they lacked in charisma they made up for in persistence. The messenger he could tolerate, he had a job to do, but as far as the others were concerned there was no reason for them to be in his office in the first place. They let that boy go seven years ago... how in hell did they expect to get him back now?
"Are you preparing to take Naruto Uzumaki by force?"
"No, we merely want to talk to the boy." It was Kakashi Hatake who spoke... he spoke believably, but the Kazekage only looked at the silver haired man like he was the biggest fool in the room.
"Boy? Hmph, good luck with that."
"So you'll tell us where to find him?" A pink haired medical kunoichi asked... oh so hopefully.
"Weren't you listening? I can't help you." Sighs were heard around the room in exasperation.
"Regardless of what you think, he's the responsibility of the Leaf, our jinchuuriki. Things didn't go as planned and he has no training, how the hell is he supposed to protect himself?" It was the black haired boy speaking....
There was a raised voice from the other end of the room,"You morons really don't know anything, do you?"
"Kankuro, silence..." The Kazekage sighed, "Go find your brother."
The brunette huffed but left the office without another word, only glaring at the Leaf ninjas on his way out. He left them to finish their discussion, went to find his little brother. He knew where he was... but he took his time walking, not to eager to face his brother.
"Gaara." He'd found him, and the look on Kankuro's face said it all. The red head had seen the Leaf ninja enter the village, he wasn't happy. They wanted him, they needed to leave him alone, they shouldn't have come. Gaara could deliver the message... alone.
"No."
"Father wants to see you."
"Fuck him."
"Gaara... just hear them out." He was asking too much of his little brother. There was no one more important to Gaara than his blonde friend, and because of this he was well protected. If Gaara, and Kankuro, had their way the blonde would stay that way.
Unfortunately, it wasn't up to them.
"It's no me you have to convince, my son is the only one who can tell you where to find Naruto Uzumaki." Those were the words they heard as the two young men stepped into their father's office. Immediately, Gaara wished he was off on another training expedition with the regular troops, away from the wanting eyes of these pathetic ninjas.
"No way in hell."
"Gaara-san, please."
"All you're gonna do is drag him back to the Leaf, lock him up somewhere and leave him there to rot."
"He isn't safe on his own, not right now. If someone was stupid enough to attack the eight-tails jinchuuriki... they'll be brave enough to attack that idiot." Gaara was ready to go at the Uchiha, Kankuro's hand wrapped around his wrist was the only thing keeping him from doing so, but it didn't keep him from fuming.
"He has a point, Gaara." His father should know better and keep his mouth shut, he wasn't helping.
"I'm aware of the situation, but I also know the whole picture. You dumbasses do not!"
"We're not asking you to help us convince him to come home. We just need you to take us to him, so that we can talk, that's all. What he does is his decision, we aren't here to force him into anything." Gaara almost believed the one-eyed man, but he still felt uneasy.
"Either way, Naruto-kun needs to be made aware."
"I'll inform Naru-chan." After a little bit of grumbling, a sigh escaped Gaara's lips, "These idiots can come along, if they can keep up. But so help me, if they try ANYTHING... I will bury them alive and slowly let them suffocate until their insides are nothing but mush, goo, and blood!"
"You're doing the right thing, Gaara-san." It was the kunoichi, somehow she made him feel insulted.
"I said I'd take you, but I highly doubt Naru-chan will listen to anything you have to say."
"We just want him home." It was the ANBU in the back that had spoken this time... putting himself at the top of Gaara's 'which order to kill them in' list.
"He is home."
