Job x August Alsina ft. Anthony Hamilton

I licked my thumb quickly before turning the stack of money over in my hands. I carefully counted each bill in the stack of twenties. When I was finished I placed the $600 in a rubber band and setting it on the table. I moved on the the next stack, containing all fifty dollar bills and began counting. In all, there sat $4,000 and I couldn't help but smirk. Easy fucking money.

I banded up half and opened the Nike Huarache box sitting on my desk, and placed the rest of the money inside. The stack I sat on my desk, I put in my back pocket, pulled on my shoes, and stored the box back in it's hiding place.

When I walked out my room, the smell of breakfast hit my nose and I couldn't help but grin. I strolled to the kitchen, making sure not to trip over Leilani's toys scattered in the hallway. I shook my head, because I knew I told her little self to pick these things up last night.

"Mama." I called before I even stepped into the kitchen. "Morning, baby." She called back. When I walked in the kitchen, she had pots on the stove, cooking a full breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, and pancakes. I didn't even have to ask her to make my plate, she was already placing it in front of me.

"Thank you." I said before grabbing a small glass and pouring out some orange juice. I sat and said a small prayer before digging in. "How much you need?" I asked her with a mouth full of eggs. "$800." She answered shutting off the pot with the grits in it. I passed her a whole stack without hesitation and told her to get groceries and some snacks for Leilani too.

She nodded her head and went to exit the kitchen, but not before kissing my forehead and thanking me for the money. "It's no problem, mama." I said kissing her cheek. We go through this every month, you'd think she'd stop thanking me by now.

She rubbed my head and exited the kitchen to get Lei ready for school. My baby isn't a morning person, much like her daddy, so it was a struggle to get her up in the morning. She loved going to school, so it wasn't much of a fuss in the morning. When I finished my food, I washed the dish and cup I used before heading to the living room.

I cut the TV on, just for some background noise, and pulled my phones out. I looked through my iPhone first and then flipped open my flip phone. The usual shit was poppin' off. It was Friday, so I knew I'd be making a lot more than I did last night. In addition to all the shit I had to do today, I had to pick my sister from the airport, and I promised Lei I'd take her to Build-A-Bear later too.

I shook my head at her spoiled ass. My babygirl had me wrapped around her tiny, dainty pink painted fingers. But just like how she had me wrapped around her finger, so did the other women in my life. Naomi, my sister, and my mother, Jennifer, were all spoiled by me and I couldn't imagine it any other way.

My mother gave me everything when she hadnothing. We struggled a lot through the past years, especially when Keisha left Lei with me. It was another mouth to feed, when in all honesty, we couldn't afford it. I didn't know what the fuck to do with a four month old and no money. But, we made it work.

My mom quit one of her jobs to help me take care of Lei while I was working at one of my two jobs, and picking up shifts whenever they were available. And when she had to work, Naomi would watch her. My sister gave up her after school activities to rush home and watch her niece. To say the both of them were a blessing would be an understatement.

But, even with the two jobs and my mom's job, we were still struggling. I had to make some hard decisions. I told myself I would never deal, seeing as how I saw a lot of people around me die from either dealing drugs or taking them. But, shit got real dark and the only light at the end of the tunnel had dealing written all over it.

My boy from diaper days, Mack, got me in. I started out with little jobs. Selling on the side, while I kept both of my jobs. The money made up for the shit we couldn't afford. My daughter got new clothes, I gave my sister money for both watching Lei and doing good in school, I started helping my mama with the bills and I would just give her money just because. Shit, we even started paying the full amount for the light bill. We were living good.

One night, Mack tried to coach me into doing a drop with him, but I wasn't having that shit. I was fully against it, until he told me how much I'd make just for coming with him. I thought about the fact that my sister would be graduating high school soon and she wanted to go to college, I thought about Lei and all the shit she'd need growing up, and how I wanted my mama to want for nothing. After I made that drop and pocketed five grand, I quit both of my jobs and haven't looked back since.

Mama and Naomi knew what I was doing. Shit, my mama nearly beat me dead the day she found out. They didn't approve at it at first, but they knew how stubborn I was. If it was something I wanted to do, they couldn't really do or say anything to stop me. After a while, all they could do was ask me to be careful.

"Daddy!" My princess called breaking me from my thoughts. She jumped on my lap, giggling, before hugging my torso. "Build-A-Bear today?" "Of course." I assured her. "Didn't I tell you to pick them toys up last night?" I asked giving her a stern eye. "Yes... but I was busy." She batted her eyelashes.

"With what?" I chuckled amused. "I was playing with my dolls, and I had to color." She informed me. I could only laugh because she was dead serious. She was something else. "Just make sure you get them up. Grandma gon' pick you up from school later alright?" I informed her. She nodded and I placed her on her feet. "Go eat your breakfast." I said kissing her cheek.

She scurried off to the kitchen and I was right behind her. I helped her climb onto the stool in front of the island. My mama put her plate in front of her and I handed her her Princess Tiana cup filled with Apple juice. My iPhone went off and I didn't hesitate to pick up.

"Yo." "Yo, B. Where you at? We got shit to do." Mack barked in my ear. Ever since I knew this nigga, he'd been impatient. He doesn't like to wait for shit. "I'll be there in a minute nigga." I mumbled watching Lei eat. "Ten minutes, B. Niggas don't know time, I swear." I heard him speaking to whoever was in the background before he hung up.

"Alright, I gotta go." I spoke to both of them. I kissed both of their foreheads and picked up my keys. "I love you, daddy." Lei's cute voice said as she watched me fix my Nike hat. I smiled and couldn't help but look into her eyes, the ones that sparkled just like her mother's.

"Love you more, princess." I told her honestly. "Be careful, baby." My mom said looking me in my eyes. "Always mama." I replied before walking out the door.
