Epilogue

They're driving within a thick silence. Chanyeol is looking straight ahead on the road while Baekhyun has his gaze fixed on the window.

After what happened last night, they haven't had a word ever since this morning. Chanyeol's confession is still replaying in Baekhyun's ears like a broken tape, and he still can't make out if the taller was just bluffing or telling him the truth. That would be too far overboard if it was a joke, and too unbelievable if it was real. Baekhyun's head is aching and he wants to just ask him again about it, but he can't. He just can't do that because it's too awkward and embarrassing, and he would be lying if says he wasn't flustered about it, let alone happy if that was the truth.

Uh, Baekhyun wants to melt into a puddle of goo. Chanyeol said he loves him. What should he do? Should he ask him about it simply like nothing happened?

"Baekhyun." / "Chanyeol."

Baekhyun swallows, his hands are too sweaty and it's too suffocating.

"You go first," Chanyeol says, clearing his throat anxiously.

"About last night," the shorter male starts, "Did you really mean that?"

"What, that I love you?"

Baekhyun chokes on his saliva.

"It wasn't a joke, Baekhyun," Chanyeol seriously says, and Baekhyun's heart skips a beat. "That was the truth like what I've told you five years ago when we were still trainees back then."

"Why?" Baekhyun blurts out. "Why did you fall in love with me? I thought you hate me and see me just as your best friend."

Baekhyun asked the others why they liked him, and they all had different reasons. They said he's beautiful, he's nice, he's fun to be with, he's kind, he has a good personality. They also said they like him because he's just simply Baekhyun. The singer greatly appreciates those compliments a lot, but Chanyeol's praises matter to him the most.

"I don't know."

Baekhyun turns to look at him.

"I don't exactly know the reason why I love you. I love you for no reason. That's it."

Baekhyun lifts a eyebrow. "Are you even serious right now?"

"Yes."

Baekhyun wants to punch him square on the face. He's definitely joking around with him. Chanyeol has no right to tell him simply that and hurt his feelings just because he doesn't know the reason why he fell for him. Maybe he's only mistaking their bromance as a true romance. What an asshole. He shouldn't have hoped too far because it hurts.

"Why are you furrowing your eyebrows?" Chanyeol asks worriedly. "Are you mad?"

"Stop playing with my feelings, Park Chanyeol," Bakhyun mutters sharply. "If you're trying to piss me off, well congratulations! You're doing a great job."

Chanyeol pulls over for a while.

"Do you still not understand?"

"Understand what?" Baekhyun says. "You know, not because they told me they like me you can just also tell that to me without meaning it. I know you always prank people but please don't include me because....it hurts."

"Are we gonna fight over this again?" Chanyeol says, sighing helplessly. Baekhyun looks like he's going to throw a fit if Chanyeol continues explaining himself which he thinks the other male won't be believing.
