The Hybrids

Chapter 1

I woke up in a strange room. I felt weak. The fish girl from earlier came into the room.

"This is probably going to hurt." She said as she wrapped my bleeding hands. Ah, that's why she said it would hurt. The serum in my bloodstream made my skin burn when it came into contact with my blood. I winced as she bandaged me, but I didn't cry out.

I noticed that she was wearing a mask. Her gills were dormant on her face.

"I have two questions." I said.

"Shoot." She replied.

"What's your name? I'm Slyna but my friends used to call me Sly. Also, how long was I out?"

"I'm Aqua. Well, my real name's Arianna, but we have code names here and Sly is perfect. Also, you've been out for about two hours." She said.

"We?" I asked.

"Hm? Oh! This place is a hidden hideout from the Hunters for Hybrids. There are about three others here." She says with a smile. I look around but I can't find my twin daggers and bow anywhere.

"Where are my weapons?" I ask.

"The weapon room." She replies. Aqua is really starting to annoy me. I decide to freak her out. I'm the only Hybrid that managed to successfully use my mind-messaging ability.

Can I meet the others?

She looks surprised but nods, her braided green hair moving from side to side. I notice in this moment how pretty she is. We look very different from each other.
She has neon green and ebony hair, while I have shadowy silver hair. She has tan skin when I have pale skin. She has gills while I have ears and a tail. Her hair is braided but I just let mine fall down past my waist or in a ponytail. We are both beautiful, but in different ways. I follow her out into the hallway. My ears prick up as I hear voices.

"Liam! That was my apple!" Said one voice.

"A guy's gotta eat!" Said another-Liam- laughing.

"I'm going to kill you! This is the only time I have to eat in a month and your being extremely rude about it!" Said the first voice.

A calm voice spoke. "Well, we have extras, Ryan."

"Shut! Up! Simon!" Said Ryan.

Simon sounded hurt. "Fine... Just trying to help."

Aqua and I reached the room just in time to hear a thump from the roof of the hideout. I scurried out of the hole and sniffed around, picking up the scent of two familiar animals. Cat and wolf.

Tears came to my eyes. "Havoc? Mischief?" I asked. They came out and I hugged them. "I thought you guys were dead! I've been running around solo for two months! Where were you?!" I screamed. I couldn't believe it was them. I'd missed them so much! "Were you living her?" If so, I was hurt. Didn't they try to look for me? I tried every single day.

"Yeah... But we looked for you everyday! In fact, that's what we were just doing!" I felt a little better and we went inside.

Mischief cleared her throat. "Ahem. Guys, this is Sly. She is the friend we had been looking for. Sly, these people are Ryan, Liam, and Simon. I'm assuming you already know Aqua."

I was curious about something though. "What are Ryan, Liam, and Simon's code names?"

Havoc laughed. "They don't like to talk about it. They're powers make their code names... humiliating. But... I don't mind talking about it. Ryan is Spark because he is part electric eel. Liam is Arctic pe cause he's part polar bear. And Simon is Joker because he's part otter." I stifle a laugh at Simon's name.

"What facility?" I asked. "I was at 'Runtgers'. I was the most powerful Hybrid there. And, no. I don't know my powers. YET."

"I was at Runtgers too." Liam gasped. "I recognize you. Did you by any chance change your name to Slyna after escaping?"

"Um, yes. My name used to be Milia." I replied.

"Mine used to be Mitchell." He said. I gasped. Mitchell was my best friend. We escaped together, but were torn from one another during a Hunter attack. I ran over and hugged him. Today was like a friendship reunion. There were others in our group, named Arianna, Michael, and Joseph.

"Runtgers, used to be named Michael." Said Ryan. I hugged him too.

"Runtgers, still named Arianna." Said Aqua. I hugged her tightly. She had been the only girl to understand me.

"Runtgers, used to be named Joseph." I gave him a high five and we did our special hand shake. I'd missed them all, but it was nice to see that the gang stuck together, even if minus one.
