Slash had taken Elizabeth out to a small café. Hoping to get a bit of privacy, he had his hair tied back in a ponytail and a cap on his head.
This was their second real date, and he couldn't be more exited. Elizabeth may seem like a pretty uptight person, but that is certainly not the case. And when Slash learned that she played guitar, a big smile crossed his features.
"So how long have you been playing?" he gently asked.
"Since I was a kid. My dad taught me, but then I also played a lot by myself," she replied, letting out a small chuckle, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.
"That's nice," he relied, pouring another pack of sugar in his cup of tea before stirring it. He quickly noticed Elizabeth was British, so when she ordered tea, he did the same, just to impress her. But in all honesty he thought the taste was horrid.
"What about you? Your guitar playing is amazing. When did you start?" she asked, a small smile playing on her mouth.
"When I was about fourteen I picked up the guitar, I played for hours on end," he explained, smiling at the thought of when he first began playing.
He noticed that the song playing on the radio had changed. Now playing was Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.
"This has got to be one of my favorite songs, it's just so- so..." he trailed off, words couldn't describe the masterpiece.
"Good?" she filled in playfully.
"Yeah--well obviously," he laughed, "It's just so special, you know?"
"Yeah, it's wonderful, how he plays guitar, and Robert's voice is just magic," she dreamily spoke, thinking about the first time she heard the song, how they all sat in the living room and played it acoustically for her. But when she heard it in concert, it was truly one of the most amazing experiences she ever had.
"Jimmy is, in my opinion, one of the best to ever lay hands on a guitar. He and Hendrix," Slash chuckled.
She felt proud of her dad, that so many people looked up to him. It made her happy, knowing how talented he was and all the deserved recognition he got for it.
"Yeah I guess, I could sadly never experience a Hendrix concert, but Zeppelin live is just surreal," she spoke, making Slash's eyes almost pop out of his head.
She wanted to be very honest towards Slash, but did she really want to tell him that Jimmy was her father?
"You saw them live?" Slash gasped, his mouth hanging wide open.
Well shit, she thought.
"Yeah, I did," she told him, "more than once, actually. They were incredible."
"Oh my god, that must have been amazing, I wish I could have gone to one, I guess I didn't have the money..." he trailed off.
"Think positive, your band is really good, Slash" Elizabeth said before lifting her cup to her lips, taking a small sip of the tea.
"Not really, but thank you," Slash smiled, feeling more confident knowing that Liz liked his music.
"You know, we're working on a new album, I could show you a song or two if you'd like- I mean if you want to, of course," he nervously stuttered.
Elizabeth let out a small chuckle and nodded. "I'd like that."
By the time they left the cafe it was almost eight o'clock pm.
Slash opened the car door for Elizabeth and she blushed. He was being such a gentleman, no man had ever done anything like that for her. She'd only seen things like that happen in movies.
