I was frozen in place, I felt like Zack did something to me so I wouldn't move. By the time our lips were slowly beginning to feel each other, I saw Victor walk into the guild. I overheard Kate tell Victor to go check on my parents, so by the time he arrived, I was so excited, I forgot about what was happening between me and Zack. I leaned back starring at Victor as he was out of my sight, "He's here! He's here!" I stood up and jumped up and down. "Who?" Zack turned around to look at the entrance of the guild, but saw no one. He turned back to face me. I grabbed his arm and, without warning, pulled him up forcing him to stand and ran to the guild bringing Zack along. "Victor's here! He went to go check on my parents, he's finally here!!" I was super excited to get news on my parents, I was so worried about them. By the time I got to the guild, I saw Kai hugging Angel tightly. Angel seemed to be crying, Kate was, too.
"Angel.. Why are you crying? Where's mom and dad?" Angel only looked at me, then ignored me. I turned to look at Kai, "Kai, why is Angel crying? Why is she ignoring me? Victor brought news about mom and dad, right! What is it? What did he say? When are they coming back?" My older brother only starred at me. "Kai, answer me!" Once I raised my voice, tears streamed down his face as well. It was rare to see my brother cry. If you did, then you knew it was dead serious. That's when I felt a cold shiver go through my body, I knew something happened. "K-Kai.. You're scaring me.. What happened, where's mom and dad!?" More and more tears streamed down Kai's cheeks. I was super scared now, I didn't know what to do, what to think. 'W-Why is he crying!? What happened that's so bad!? Mommy.. Daddy.. Please come back soon.. Kai needs you.. Angel needs you.. I need you.. We all need you!..'
"B-Blair.." Kai began to say, his voice shaky and slowly cracking. He could barely speak. "M-mom and dad..-" "Blair! Don't run so fast! At least tell me if you're going to do that!" I had left Zack behind because he was too slow. By the time he arrived, he saw my siblings and his mother crying. "Mommy, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Zack ran to his mother behind the bar and hugged her. "B-Blair.. Come here.." Kai extend one of his arms out to pull me in. "No! Where's mom and dad! Tell me, Kai! Where are they!" I continued to yell, unsure if I wanted the truth. Kai coughed a bit to clear his throat, unable to stop crying. "T-They.." "They what!" I became impatient. "T-They..." Kai gulped hard unable to tell me what had happened. "Tell me already!!" "T-They're not coming back, Blair.. T-They're in a better p-place.."
Kai tried to give me a warm smile, but failed miserably. He continued to have his arm extended out, Angel in his other arm, "Come here.." My heart sank when I heard that. "N-No.. They can't be in a better place.. They belong here! With us! They can't leave us alone! Their place is here!!" My voice started out soft, but I began with my yelling once again. Water quickly filled my eyes, faster than when I scrape my knee or cut my hand. This was different, it hurt more. I began to repeatedly rub my eyes trying to wipe away the tears, but each time, more and more came. "They can't leave.."
Zack turned to look at me after Kai said my parents were in a better place. He knew the real meaning of that expression, I didn't. He wasn't the brightest, but there were some things Zack knew better than I did and this was one of them. Kai stood up, letting go of Angel and walked towards me. He knelt down and began to wrap his arms around me to hug me until I pushed him away and stepped back. I turned around and ran out of the guild. I didn't know where I was going, I didn't care, either. I ran and ran. "Blair! Blair, come back!" Kai called, but I ignored him. He was about to chase after me until Zack rested his hand on my brother's shoulder, then ran after me.
I continued to run, I ran as fast as I could. I didn't pay any attention to where I was going. I was still rubbing my eyes, one eye after the other. Once I ran out of breath, I stopped. I saw a tree a few feet away and went to go hide behind it. I sniffed and sniffed, unable to stop, until I heard my name. "Blair! Blair, where are you?" The voice was familiar, but I didn't bother to look. I sniffed one last time before I saw a little boy standing next to me. "L-Leave me alone, Zack.. I want to be alone.." I turned my head away from him, rubbing my eyes every once in a while, now. "No. You and I are best friends. Why have best friends if you don't let them help?" Zack sat down next to me then pulled me into his chest like Kai had done to Angel. My eyes widen a bit in surprise, but I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him instead of pushing him away. I began to cry more than I was before, I couldn't stop. "Why did they leave.. I wasn't ready for them to leave, I wasn't! I want them back.. I want my mommy and daddy.." Zack looked down at me and ran his fingers through my hair, "That's what I said when my mommy said the same thing about my daddy. I didn't want him to leave. But later, mommy showed me that my daddy hadn't left. She showed me that he's always here." I looked up to see Zack pointing at his chest to where his heart was. "What's that, " I asked. I had forgotten that that's where the heart goes with everything else that was going on. I couldn't think straight. "That's the heart, silly." Zack giggled a bit, then flashed one of those lovable smiles at me. I looked back down at the floor, my head leaning on Zack's little chest.
