Kate Stewart and Sergeant Benton

After her father had died, Kate Stewart had managed to get the Doctor to take her back in time to see the Brigadier again. As long as she promised to never tell him who she was, to keep a low profile, and to leave in a month. Kate had never imagined that she would fall in love during that time, and especially not with one of her father's own men, Sergeant Benton.
   Benton had just came home from a long days work and needed to unwind, Kate could tell. She led him to their room they had shared for the past two weeks.
   Kate knew she was going to leave soon so she wanted tonight to be one they'd never forget. She felt safe in his arms, safer than she had ever felt since her father died. Kate knew that he was loyal to the Doctor so he would understand if she told him, right?
   "What are you thinking about darling?" Benton asked stroking her hair, then going back to make sure he had kissed every inch of her head to toe.
   "Oh nothing."
   "You are thinking about something or are you not enjoying this, enjoying me?"
    "No it's not that... It's just that I never thought I'd fall in love at least not this fast."
   "Neither did I but look at us now."
    He started to unbutton her shirt and taking the hint she started to take off his uniform.
   Finally, after about 2 hours Kate stopped.
   "Benton, I need to tell you something."
   " Yes?" He replied not stopping.
   "No, listen I have something very important I need to tell you."
   "Okay." He sat up.
   "My real name is Kate Lethbridge-Stewart."
   "What??? Are you saying you're married to the Brigadier?"
   "Oh no it nothing like that. I'm his daughter."
   "How is that possible?"
   "I'm from the future. My father... I mean the Brigadier just died recently and I managed to get the Doctor to agree to let me visit for a month. I didn't think that... I never meant to hurt you."
   "Oh." Benton sat in stunned silence.
   "I'm sorry, I really am."
   "I'm not just going to give you up without a fight. I could resign from UNIT, I could tell them that I became a second-hand car dealer."
    "No it would never work. We could never get the Doctor to agree, could we?"
   "I don't know but I'm going to try."
   Benton did get the Doctor to agree and even the Brigadier's blessing for the marriage (though he didn't know she was
his daughter). Kate got her dad to walk her down the isle after all. They did tell the story of how he became a second-hand car dealer, and Benton went back to the future with Kate where they lived happily ever after.
