Is it hard to believe?
It's only 70 degrees
But spring isn't due for a week
But there it is again
Alone on my lawn
That small yellow daffodil
It has come to my attention
That she
(Maybe he?)
Only blooms once a year
So early in the spring
But then never to be seen
Till spring comes back again
Do flowers get lonely?
I bet this one does
Right here, there is only one
He survives on his own
No one else to be known
But our fleeting presence
Now don't get me wrong
There are other flowers along
But no where close to him
Although similar in type
They are no where as bright
As my yellow daffodil
It's sad I only see
My daffodil once in the spring
Till his petals are forever gone
I'll just wait for then
When early spring comes again
And maybe share him with a friend
