About a week later we were sitting around the dinner table eating breakfast. It was just Chis, me and dad. Eyeball was out with Ace causing trouble somewhere.

"Hey kids I was thinking I would take you guys out by the back Harlow road. Maybe do a little fishing." Dad said before sticking a spoonful of cereal in his mouth.

"Cool!" Chris said smiling at me.

"Yeah." Dad said smiling. "You guys can each bring a friend if you want." He said looking at the two of us.

"Gordie." Chris and I said at the same time grinning at each other.

Our dad smiled at Chris and winked at me.

"He's a good kid. His brother was too." Dad said making sadness wash over the table.

"Dad, when we're out there, please don't mention Denny. Gordie is always getting reminded of him and compared to him." I said spinning the cereal around in my bowl.

"Okay. Sure." Said my dad linking me up and down.

Chris smiled at me and put a hand on my shoulder. Then he stood up and started getting the dishes.

I stood up as well and walked back to our room. I changed into flowy jean skirt I had recently got and a yellow tank top.

I pulled on my shoes and looked in the mirror. I tied up half my face leaving some little wisps of hair over my face. It seemed odd to not have a face covered in bruises. I smiled and walked back out.

"Okay kids get in the car so we can go get Gordie." Dad said from the living room.

"Okay." We said at the same time walking out to the car.

"Got some new clothes I see?" Chris asked smiling at me.

I shrugged. "I guess it was just time for something new." I said smiling a little.

Chris climbed in the passenger seat and I climbed into the back. Dad hopped in and started driving out towards Gordie's house.

"I'll get him." I said as my dad pulled to a stop in Gordie's drive.

Gordie's mother was outside doing the laundry. I climbed out of the car and shut the door.

"Hello Mrs.Lachance." I said smiling at her. She looked somewhat at me. I raised an eyebrow at her and she smiled at me.

"Hello JoAnne." She said unhanging another piece of clothing and setting it in the basket.

"Um, is Gordie home?" I asked walking closer so I was right across from her.

"Yeah he's inside. You can go right in if you like." She said still smiling at the place I was standing earlier.

"Okay thanks. Do you mind if he comes fishing with Chris and I?" I asked her walking around her.

"Sure." She said still staring at the place. She was getting better-ish.

I smiled and ran towards the house. I swung open his front door to see him eating a piece of toast at his table. He had on a pair of jeans and a navy blue shirt on.

"Honey I'm home!" I said smiling and gesturing to his house.

Gordie smiled and chuckled a little.
