Hi there! My name is Annie Hankel, I am 12 years old and I live with my mother Jane Hankel in a little cottage on Whispering Lane overlooking Whispering Woods. This is the Story of how Junior came to live with us...

It was an early spring morning, The sun was shining through the windows of my bedroom, I was lying in bed when I heard my mom cry, "breakfast is ready!" "Coming, mom!" I called back. I walked on the stairs into the kitchen, I could smell the pancakes that mom had fixed for breakfast. I sat down at the table with mom, usually should would be singing a merry tune but this morning she looked rather glum. I asked mom, "why are you looking so glum this morning?" She didn't say anything for a few moments, then she said, "look out the window and you'll see why." I turned to the window that overlooks the Whispering Woods, but to my horror
I'm instead of giant trees, it looked as if a tornado has hit the forest and there was nothing left but tree stumps scattered all over the land. I tried to hold back the tears but I couldn't help it, it overwhelmed me, I burst out crying, "what happened?" "The government hired some workers that are going to start building a shopping plaza here", said mom. I was so angry. I went outside and walked through what used to be my favorite forest. I was remembering all the times that mom would tell me stories about the trees talking to each other in Whispering Woods, then all of a sudden I heard a little whimper behind one of the stumps.
