I looked behind the stump and there, lying in some rotten twigs, no smaller than a lamb, was a fawn. I knew I had to do something, I couldn't just leave him there. So I went back to the house and got my old baby carrier. I put the little fawn in the carrier and went back to the house. Mom was at work at that time so I made some warm milk and poured it into a baby's bottle. At first, the fawn would not drink from the bottle so I poured some milk into my hand and held it in front of his face. The fawn was not sure at first but then cautiously began drinking. Then slowly, I put the bottle in his mouth and before I knew it, he had drank the whole bottle up. We went outside together and swung in our hammock, he laid his head on my chest and fell asleep. As we were swinging, I looked down at him and giggled about how tiny he was. Then I knew what I was going to name him... Junior.
As the sun was starting to say, I heard the door open inside. I picked up Junior and went to see who it was. It was mom, mom looked at me with a puzzled expression on her face, "what is that thing you're holding in your arms?". "Oh, you are talking about Junior". "And what exactly is Junior " asked mom. "He is a fawn, I found him behind a stump outside. Can I please keep him?" "Well, Annie that is a big responsibility and where are you going to keep him?", Asked mom. "I can make a nice little place for him in the attic and I am old enough to take care of him!" I answered back. "Fine ", answered mom. I ran over and gave her a tight squeeze. I took Junior upstairs to the attic. I moved a few boxes and put down a few blankets to make it warm. I also brought a bottle full of warm milk for him. "Well it looks like you're nice and cozy Junior!" I kissed him good night and went back downstairs into my bedroom and went to sleep.
