Matthew Argent slowly opened his umbrella and stepped out of the taxicab, staring at the monstrous building in front of him. This was it; he had made it here. Now all he needed to do was find some way to make a living. It had cost a lot of money to pay the rent here, and most of the money came from the streets. Hopefully things would move along quickly...
Matthew shook that thought from his head. This was New York City, after all! Nothing could possibly go wrong.

"Wait!"

He turned around and saw another taxicab pull up behind his. The door opened and a young girl climbed out, her hair almost immediately becoming soaked in the downpour.

"There you are, Matthew!" She panted, clearly out of breath. Once she had regained herself, she hugged him. "I feel like it's been forever since we've seen each other," she gushed. She stood on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek, regardless of the high heels she wore. "Can you believe we're finally here?"

Matthew shook his head, smiling. "New York City..."

Alexis giggled in delight. She seemed excited to be here, which of course made him happy.

"Are you sure your parents are alright with you being here? With me, I mean?" He asked curiously. Alexis rolled her eyes. "You can trust me, Matthew," she said. "And my parents trust you. I wouldn't be here if they didn't."

Matthew wrapped his arm around Alexis' shoulders, holding his umbrella over both of them. With the help of the cab drivers, they removed their bags from the car trunk and walked inside the building.
