"Good morning." I say groggily. I start my junior year of high school today and i'm not very excited.
"Good Morning Alexis!" my mother says. "You better be ready, I'm dropping you off in about an hour honey." she says. I groan and wipe my eyes. I grab a bowl from the cabinet and set it on the counter. I choose some Cheerios and milk then serve myself.
I eat my cereal then walk upstairs to my bathroom. "This is gonna be the worst year ever." I say washing my face. I say that every year. Across the hall is my bedroom, so I grab my navy blue skinny pants and a school spirit shirt. 'Woo, so much spirit.' I think to myself sarcastically. Once I am dressed I slip on my toms. I want to be comfortable the first day.
"Mom! I'm ready. Let's go." I shout. "I'm in the car." she says walking out. Grabbing my backpack and phone, I walk out the door.
My mom slides in her George Strait cd before I can change the radio station. Great.
The whole ride to my school is quiet. I text my friend Emma to meet me there, I don't want to be alone.
"Your hair looks nice Lex." my mom says. I never do anything with my brown hair but straighten it. "Thank you." I accept the compliment.
I look up and see the gates to the school. 'Mercer High.'
"Hey, you know this is not a regular high school right?" my mother asks. "You can actually rent out a dorm; Well I was thinking I can rent you one in about a week, and if you like it you can stay." I give her a weird look and say "Um, yeah maybe I can get a dorm with Erika."
She nods and points to the door. I have to get off. "Bye mom." I say and close the door. I walk on the sidewalk passing some outdoor benches with some Jocks sitting on top. I feel eyes on me but I blow them off. Once I am inside I bump into Erika. "Alex!" she squeaks. "Hi." I say warmly. "I went to the wrong restroom so I came to look for you over here." she says. "It's okay I just got here." I assure her. "This campus is really big. It's nothing like the old Ann Parker." she says. We used to have another Ann Parker which Erika and I attended but the grade levels were 9-10th and now that we're in 11th grade we move up to the bigger campus. "Yeah, i've heard." I laugh.
