This is where we meet Chyna Devall, (the girl in the media section)  Zayne's best friend... Or is she?

Zayne's P.O.V.

After dropping Carter off at Sandi's for the day I headed to Spelman for my daily classes. It was around 11 am when I went to The Busy Bee Cafe to grab something to eat before going back for my afternoon classes. The Busy Bee had some of the best soul food in Atlanta and I always ate there whenever I had a chance.

"Umm hi." I said to the waitress. "Can I get the macaroni and cheese, fried porkchops, greens, cornbread, and rice and gravy with a sweet tea?" She looked at me in surprise at the large amount of food I had ordered before nodding curtly and walking away. In my head, I laughed. I loved food, especially good food. Good food and good books.

A few moments after the waitress left my best friend Chyna walked in and headed towards me. "Biiiiiiiiiiiiitch! How you been?" she squealed, hugging me tightly. Chyna had been friends with me since I had moved to Atlanta five years ago. She was the complete opposite of me. She was tall and lanky and so outgoing she was just shy of being obnoxious. She loved having the attention on her and that was obvious with everything she did. She was gorgeous though, and self confident, not caring about how you felt about her or her sexuality. Chyna was bisexual; if she saw an attractive man or woman she went after them, not caring how others felt. She was bold, she was blunt, and she was like a sister to me and Carter's godmother.

"So bitch lemme run you in. So it's a party going on tomorrow night and I definitely want you to come through with me. All the hottest artists gonna be there, like Kid Cudi, Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz. And I can't forget about bae's fine ass: August Alsina!" Chyna gushed, fanning herself with a thin napkin. She always got like that when she mentioned the handsome R&B singer... Matter of fact she got like that whenever she brought up ANYONE with sex appeal or money. I laughed at my best friend.

"Girl now you know I can't do that! I'm a mother to a small child, I can't do what we used to do when we were younger."

Chyna rolled her eyes at me, sucking her teeth loudly. "Bitch we in our early twenties! We supposed to still be going out and having fun. Damn, take a break from being a Momma sometimes."

I shook my head. "Chyna we both know Carter is my life. I wish I could go out but I can't do it no more I'm-"

"A mother before anything, yeah I know Zayne." Chyna sneered. "But you deserve a break! You ain't nothing but a stick in the mud, hell now I see why Kyle cheated and left yo ass."

As soon as the words escaped Chyna covered her mouth and looked at me, guilt overwhelming her looks. "oh my gosh Zayne I am so sorry! I didn't mean it."

A tear slipped my eye when she brought up Carter's father and my ex fiancé, Kyle Korver, the starting small forward for the Atlanta Hawks. We got together my freshman year of college when I met him in a club. Everything was great, some real fairy tale shit. I really had a thing for that fine ass piece of white chocolate too. But a few months before the wedding I found out he had been cheating on me with one of the cheerleaders for his team. We broke up and I moved out; then I found out I was pregnant with Carter. Kyle completely changed from that sweet, soft spoken guy I had met. He became conceited and rude, claiming I had gotten pregnant just to trap him and most likely that he was not the father. Crying, I had confided in Chyna, and she had gotten her at the time boyfriend Deon and some of his niggas to "meet up" with Kyle. We just gonna say that Kyle couldn't finish out the remaining three games of the season.

Chyna knew how much Kyle had meant to me, not only was he my child's father, he was my first real love. So of course I was hurt when my "best friend" threw my ruined relationship in my face.

I stood up, dropping enough money to cover my food and a tip. "Zayne I swear to God I-" Chyna stammered.

I glowered at her, my dark skin flushing red under and my eyes shining in anger. "Keep the bullshit, C. You said what you meant. Bye."

I walked out of the cafe and made my way back to the car. By the time I had pulled off my foundation was wet from salty tears. I wiped my face. "Get it together baby." I whispered. Chyna always did not care about what she said but I'm not gonna lie the shit hurt. Maybe she didn't mean it... But that saying about "An angered tongue speaks no lies." was true right?
