She walked home and opened the door. Her mom greeted her at the door.
"Hi honey, how was school?"
Brooklyn smiled and realized her dad was still at work and her brother hasn't gotten home yet.
"School was okay, mom. Ya know, same as usual." Brooklyn said with a laugh.
"That's good honey."
"Yep.."
She threw her backpack on the couch and walked to the kitchen. She was really hungry, but really didn't feel like eating. She grabbed a bottle of water and started to head to her room, but then felt like asking her mom a question.
"Uh, hey mom, can I talk to you really quick?" Brooklyn said awkwardly. "Yeah, sure."
"Okay, so lately I've been feeling..down.."
"Oh sweetie, that's normal! It's just a phase, you'll get over it."
"Okay..thanks mom.."
She walked into her room and turned off the lights. She grabbed her phone and saw Kyle had texted her. She quickly clicked the notification and texted back.
"Hey Kyle, sorry I was talking to my mom about something"-Brooklyn
She stared at the screen. Nothing happened. Sighing, she put her phone down. She got up and looked through her drawer. She found a pencil sharpener and a screwdriver. She started to cry as she realized what she was about to do. She heard a ding come from her phone but she left it sitting. In the screwdriver went and the blade started to get loose. She dug it out and held it in her hand as she read the sticky notes over and over again. The tears rolled down her face. She knew this was what she had to do. She inserted the blade into her skin as her heart began to race. Adrenaline. She sliced it against her wrist as blood started to drip. She dropped the blade and broke down into tears. The blood flowed down her wrist. She had just did her first cut.
