YOU

"So, how are you doing honey?"

I can't help but smile at the sweetness of my mom's voice. Her accent which I really miss rings into my ears. How pleasant to hear her voice again. I do really miss her and dad and I know they miss me too.

"I'm okay mom. I've done a great job of taking care of myself well of course with the help of Aunt Lucinda," I giggled.

"Oh you child. It's a bad thing you didn't came home last Christmas so I can really see you if you're doing well" she say with a worry in her voice.

I feel terrible. I exhaled and give her a small smile.

"I'm sorry mom. I know you miss me and I miss you too. But.. I can't just leave my projects here filing up in the corner. Plus, the break is just too short"

I see my mom roll her pair of beautiful brown eyes. Now, I know where did my rolling of eyes came from. It's just that I didn't able to get her eye color.

"I know how dedicated you are to your studies and I understand that. Just, take care of yourself always" She smiled sweetly.

Now, seriously I'm about to cry. So I pinch the bridge of my nose before answering her.

"Mom, stop it." I chuckled "I'll always take care of myself. Swear."

I even raise my palm for her to believe me.

"Okay. Btw, where did you spend you're New Years Eve? Your Aunt Lucinda have spend it in the orphanage"

Uh-oh. Then she glared at me.

"And I was told you're not with her"

I take a gulp then answer her with my prepared excuse.

"I've been with my friends mom"

I said and give her a reassuring smile.

"Friends?" she asks suspiciously.

"yesss" I pouted , then she suddenly asks.

"How many boys are there? Did you surrender the white flag already?"

"Mom!" I practically shouted. Well, who wouldn't? Did she really think that I did?

"What? Just asking, you're 19 already and... what I said is not impossible." she exhaled before she continues "but... I really wish you'll answer No"

With that, I burst on laughing.

"Of course it's a No mom."

Then she release a sigh of relief

"Well, that's good" she said "Now, I need to cook for dinner now. I love you honey"

"I love you too mom- wait!" I called when I remember something.

"What's for dinner?" I ask my stomach quietly grumbling.

A playful smile draws in my mother's face then she said.

"Oh, nothing special"

I doubt it. "Really?"

"Yes, I'll just cook your favorite," the moment she said it my eyes grow wide and the grumbling becomes louder.

"You are really making me go home, aren't you?" I pout, then she laugh.

"I just miss you, now, now dad's gonna be home any minute now. Take care of yourself."
