I dug my heals into the floor to try to keep Zev from dragging me, but no such luck.
"Zev! What is going on-"
"Be quiet, Evangeline," Zev growled and pull out his phone. His grip didn't loosen as he dragged me down the hallway. People were starting to look, but no one said anything. No one ever approached the wolf boys.
Or me.
Zev finally stopped, but he pushed me against the lockers non too gently. My back hit against the cold metal as Zev leaned a hip against the lockers and leaned in to put him arm on my other side against the locker to cage me in. I glared at him as I made a step to move past him, but his hip and arm blocked both of my ways.
"What the hell is wrong-"
"Shut it Angel," Zev muttered and dialed his phone. I kept glaring at the wolf boy as Zev growled under his breath.
"Father, it is me. I am heading back to the house. Something happened at the school."
My stomach churned as Zev tensed while he left a voice mail. I cocked my head when I saw the twins rounding the corner quickly.
I couldn't help but blush now as I felt the closeness of Zev's body pressed against mine. His pupils were leaking silver and red, his wolf coming out. Finn looked animistic as his twin was on edge. The twins' iris's were straining amber, their body stiff and tense.
"It is a mutt," Kendrick seethed as my body tensed.
"A mutt? Where? I-"
"I am going to go find my father. I will call when he has given the direct orders. Finn, you will tail this mutt until the orders are given. Kendrick, keep an eye on Evie."
"I do not need a babysitter. Who was that? Was that new kid the mutt?" I questioned as I noticed Finn was already gone. I almost cringed when Zev's heated reddish eyes landed on me.
"Do I need to start on the long list of you getting into trouble because you never listen? So yes, Evangiline, you will be watched. I am not taking any chances with this mutt or with you. You will not go near him, is that understood?" Zev ordered, his tone sharp. The alpha wolf was seeping through. I balled my fists and nearly growled at him.
"I can help. Let me help some how," I told him and Zev just growled and took a step away from me.
"Don't be naive, Angel," Zev said lowly and then snapped his glare to Kendrick.
"Make sure she doesn't do anything stupid, and keep that mutt away from her. I don't know why he is here, but I don't like it."
He started to move but I caught his arm.
"Let me help. I have been training. You tell me all the time I am a part of this pack, but you never include me in anything," I threw at him. Then he was very close to me.
I felt the heat of his body as his large form leaned over me. I suddenly felt very bare as I saw his eyes scan through my body. He leaned his head down and his hand took my chin. He lifted my chin up to make me meet his eyes.
"You are a part of this pack, but you are also vulnerable. You can train all you like, Angel, but you can still get hurt more easily than us. You are human. You are ours to protect. We don't include you for your protection. So I will say this again, Evie. Stay put or you will have to deal with Father and me."
I bristled at his words, but Zev had already let go, nodded at Kendrick and stalked down the hallway. I just watched him as I heard the bell ring above us. I felt Kendrick tug on my hand as I just watched Zev leave the school.
"Let's go Eves."
I just sighed as I put my hand in his and we went to first period together.
