I open my eyes to the familiar sight of the blue ceiling of my room. I look to the left where my night table is. The green digits in my clock tell me it is 9:45 in the morning. I rarely wake up before 11 but then I remember something that may be the reason of the sudden change in my biological clock. It's Sunday, also the last day before I need to go back to high school. Great.

I sit up and stretch my arms with all my strength in order to loosen up my muscles. I yawn and push myself up to get started with my day. I didn't like the idea of getting ready so early in the morning, but I wanted to enjoy this day as much as I could before I had to go back to stress land otherwise known as school. Today was the last day of complete relaxation and peace, no stress, no homework, no projects. Just peace. I had to make the most out of it.

I walk towards my bathroom and I begin my morning routine. I wash my face with cold water in order to wake myself up a little more and I brush my teeth. I take a shower, letting the hot water run through all my body. I put on a salmon t-shirt and black skinny jeans, and I dry my hair, deciding to not fix it into a quiff. Ultimately I prefer to let it down; it was so much easier to stylize.

Once I'm done, I choose to wear my brand new moccasins and I rush downstairs. My nose catches a familiar scent while I'm walking up to the kitchen. Waffles.

"Good morning, Mom!" I exclaimed, sitting down excitedly because of the amazing breakfast I was about to eat.

"Oh, good morning, darling! Why are you up so early? It's not even 11:30." Mom asked surprised.

"Yeah, I know. I'm just as shocked as you, but I guess it's a sign telling me to enjoy this day. My happiness ends tomorrow morning." I replied unenthusiastically.

"Come on, Connor. Don't be like that. It isn't that bad, don't be negative all of a sudden," Mom complained, "It's too early for bad moods. Here, eat your waffles and go out to have fun, okay?"

"Sorry, mom. Thank you." I said. She gave me a reassuring smile and walked out of the kitchen to sit on the couch and watch some culinary show that was on the TV. She had probably eaten already.

I sat there in silence while I ate my waffles with maple syrup and drank a glass of orange juice. When I finished, I washed my dishes and sat down for a while with my mom on the couch to watch her show. After two hours or so I checked my watch. It was 2:35 now. I wanted to go out and have some fun doing whatever came to my mind.

"Hey mom, I'm heading out for a while. I'll eat something out, maybe a subway. Do you want me to bring you something?" I asked her while I stood up and put my phone and my wallet in my pocket.

"No, thanks, Con. I'm fine, I'll prepare something before your dad and siblings come back." Mom said with a smile.

My father, my sister Nicola, and my brother Brandon had gone on a road trip three days ago because they wanted to go see the Great Canyon. My mom wasn't feeling up to it, and I was very sick that day, making it possible to throw up at the softest of movements during the trip. We decided to stay home and they went to have a little adventure.

I waved my mom goodbye and went out the door, closing it behind me. It was a nice day. Usually I didn't like the hot weather of California one bit; I didn't like being all sweaty and feeling my skin burn because of the sun rays. But today even though the sun was out in the sky, it wasn't that hot. It was just warm.

I decided to walk to one of my favorite places: The perks of being a reader. It was opened when I was 13 years old, about four years ago. I was curious about it since it was right in front of my other favorite place; the park where I used to play when I was younger. The shop was beautiful.
