There was nothing. Only a few dead bushes and trees, and a barren plain. Wisps of mist plagued the land, shadows would hide the light. There was no light. A once lithe tabby was crouching under a tree, eyes wide with fear. Then he paused. He sat up and sniffed. Another cat. More! "Hello?" He yowled. But no one responded. He raced across the plain, unaware of the shadows of others watching him. Then he stopped. Another cat. He flattened his ears. His old friend was here. "B-Blazestreak? Are you there?" A massive grey tom padded out, his black ears still, his russet tipped tail lashing. Blazestreak stood infront of the cat, his amber eyes were slits of pure menace. "Reedtail..." Reedtail twitched his ears at the mention of his name. It had been long since he had heard his name. "S-Sorry about our failure." Reedtail winced at those words. Blazestreak unsheathed his claws and hissed. "We may have failed. But soon, they will, not us." Reedtail widened his eyes. "I smell Brackenstar, and Wildheart." He smelt more, but those were all he could identify. "Hello, Blazestreak, Reedtail.." Blazestreak sat upright, not even flinching at the voice. Reedtail, however, whipped around. A large muscular tabby stood close. "How nice to see you again." Reedtail nodded. "Hello B-Brackenstar." Reedtail stammered. He knew he wasn't as powerful as these cats, but he was strong. "Reedtail, stop acting like a kit!" Blazestreak snapped. Reedtail cowered. "Sorry." The loneliness was creeping on him, like a spider. A tortoise-shell pelt slid out of the undergrowth. "Wildheart." Reedtail narrowed his eyes. Brackenstar dipped his head at the she-cat, who greeted them as sourly as usual. "Hello." She hissed. Reedtail sat down, licking a paw as if nothing had happened. Wildheart hissed. "And so this is it. Beaten." She stared at the three toms. "We haven't even tried." Blazestreak narrowed his eyes. "We aren't beaten." He glared at Brackenstar. "We just have more allies. We aren't the only ones here." Brackenstar nodded. "True. There are more cats here to fill an entire clan." Reedtail twitched his whiskers. "So, how are we going to strike back?" Blazestreak glanced at the cats. "We won't do it alone. Brackenstar and I are planning. We just need you both to find others. Tell them about our plan." Reedtail flattened his ears. "What plan?" Wildheart hissed. "I'll tell you later." She got up and padded away. Reedtail sat up and glanced at Brackenstar and Blazestreak, before bounding off after Wildheart. Brackenstar hissed. "We will too." He sat up. "We prepare." Blazestreak sneered and sat up too, eyes shining. "Good." Brackenstar dipped his head and padded away, leaving Blazestreak alone, again. "Just you wait Wolfstar." He spat. "I will be back, and when I am, vengeance will be mine forever...."
