Before everything, our galaxy was empty. When the Precursors came in our galaxy they had to populate it with life as it is written in their tradition. They were so advanced in technology and for them every matter or energy equals with one thought.
After the colonisation stoped, they had to keep their tradition, and populate another galaxy. They had to pass an artifact, The Mantle of Responsability, to one of the created species. The chosen species has the responsability to protect the other species using the Mantle. The first chosen species were the Forerunners, an advanced technologicaly species. However, they failed their test, and the Precursors remade their choice, giving it to Humans.
The Forerunners didn't accept the change and they enhance a genocidal campaign against the Precursors. The Precursors were trying to hide in a satelite galaxy of Milky Way Known as Path Kethona. There, the Precursors tried to hide but, they were found and exterminated.
Some Precursors hid in Cryo Stasis capsules, others converted into a fail-safe poweder so they can be later regenerated back to former themselves. Unfortunetly the powder got corrupt with sickness and disease because of the will of vengence. Later with millions of years, this lifeform will be known as The Flood.
