If this was fate, destiny or somehow just a pure accident; I may never know. This, in turn hasn't stopped the last couple of years in my life have been the worst. However, mixed in I have had some great times along with the bad. In order to fully explain my story, and tell you how this all started and the few events that changed my life for either better or for worse I may never know, I need to go a bit back in time.

Sophomore year. Sterling high school, second semester; January of 2014. Stuck in yet another remedial class, fresh off of Christmas break. I glance up from my phone to see someone new walking through the door, I should mention that at our high school we are used to new faces, so I didn't pay much attention. Kids get kicked from other schools and end up here somewhere down the line, so I guess you could say we are used to it. However, this girl hadn't really clicked on my radar as anything special; until she sat next to me. I immediately noticed the one thing I hadn't realized when she walked in; she was white. I should also mention that this school is predominately black, due to most of the white family's opting to choose the better off schools. How did I end up here? I didn't have the grades or patience to deal with them. Not that I'm not smart enough, I just don't feel like doing it. Somehow, within the next week or so this girl had went from quiet to isolated to introducing herself as Sarah Compton, and striking up a conversation with me, even though she seemed somewhat reserved. Before this, I didn't think much of her because frankly, she didn't say much; but over the next few days we got to know each other as she opened up and we became good friends.

Surprisingly enough, we were seemingly complete opposites from the beginning, she was a quieter, somewhat reserved short girl, whereas I was an outspoken and loud taller guy. Somehow, we made it work throughout our "short but sweet" conversations during class. After a while, we had a test coming up. Both of us were convinced that we were doomed to fail due to us mostly talking in class. We managed to convince our parents to let me come over, due to her mother not trusting guys being over at the house; which I had understood. Throw in a few study afternoons and Mardi-Gras creeped up, almost if the timing had been planned from the beginning. So we decided to go to the parade on the island. Throughout the entire day of the trip, we bounced around the idea of dating. Between the odd stranger and older couple saying how cute we were together; and me occasionally catching her leaning into me, and wrapping my arm around her. Given the day, and the conversation that followed that night, sure enough I ended up asking her out on another date. This started a relationship that would not fail. As it was nearing the beginning of the summer for that year, Sarah and I had grown very close and ended up spending the day lying together, giggling, laughing, having a good time, and just generally falling deeper in love with each other. I hadn't even considered how far the relationship was going to go, then she climbed on top of me, and tried removing my shirt. I shot her a quizzical look, and she got off of me and locked her bedroom door, walked over and straddled me. From then on, one thing just led to another, even if we were not protected.
