Chapter 1: Where It All Began

This was an ordinary day at Garden Ridge High School for Maison Drake. Maison was a football jock who everyone loved and admired. He wasn't a regular jock though, he was a gentleman who was excelling academically and was at the top of his senior class. Mia Martinez was an overly shy girl, didn't have that many friends, and she had trouble finding the right guy. She was a straight A student and at the top of her class as well. She was involved in drama club, debate team, and had interest in trying out for the cheerleading team. Her dad, Mr. Stephen Martinez, got promoted and was transferred to his new office that was located in Los Angeles, California.

One day, when Maison was walking home from football practice, he saw some people moving in a house down the street from him. It was Mia Martinez, her little brother and sister, & her parents. Maison watched them going back & forth through the house as he was walking by. Mr. Martinez saw Maison walking down the sidewalk and stopped him. He called Mia out to the front yard to acquaint herself with him. They shook hands and continued to walk down the sidewalk. In that time, they talked about their interests, what they enjoy, their music interests, and more. He realized that she will be attending the same school as him. He asked her to meet him at the corner of the sidewalk where their houses meet. They exchanged numbers and went to their destinations.

The next day, Mia woke up a little after eight in the morning, school started at eight-thirty. Maison sat out in her front yard waiting on her for thirty minutes, he called her twice and she didn't answer. Mrs. Martinez went to Mia's room and woke her up, telling her that she didn't have that much time to get to school on time. So Mia went straight to the bathroom and took a shower, brushed her hair, and brushed her teeth. She was out in fifteen minutes, and outside to meet Maison. They rushed to school, being on time, but Mia needed help finding her classes so he decided to help her out. He took her to her homeroom class and told her to meet him at his locker. Everyone in Mia's homeroom class was staring at her, and you can hear the other girls talking about her. Sitting there alone in her desk, Mia was looking around at everyone in the classroom. A girl and a guy named Ava & Santos sat in two empty desks beside her and introduced themselves to her. They explained to her the do's and don'ts in the school, told her about the extracurricular activities, and told her that they are willing to be her friend.

Few months later, she became very close with Ava, Maison, and Santos. They all hung out every weekend and everyday at lunchtime, they were the best of friends. I guess they hung out a little too much, because all of a sudden, Maison caught feelings for Mia. Santos and Ava were a couple for weeks and Maison thought it would be a good idea to go to them for advice. Ava went to Mia with this new information from Maison and Mia was in total shock! Ava told her to keep that secret to herself because she didn't want Maison to think that he can't trust her. So on with this new knowledge, Mia was overly excited and was willing to be committed to Maison. The next day at school, Maison calmly approached Mia. Mia was standing there with butterflies in her stomach and Maison was sweating bullets. He tried to start the conversation without asking her so quickly. He couldn't get his sentence out before Santos interrupted their conversation. Frustrated, Maison walks off to the cafeteria while Santos was talking about how the principal is sleeping with his mom. It took Maison about three full weeks to ask Mia out on a date. Then he remembered that prom was coming up in a few months, so he thought it was a good idea to ask her to be his date.
