"Oh God, I'm so sorry." I tell Zeke as he's still withering on the ground in pain.
I look around hoping someone was around to help. Apparently, everyone decided to be one time for once and were already in class.
"Dang it, I'm late!" I whisper under my breath.
"I...I could care less, right...now." Zeke hissed through his teeth.
"Right. Um what can I do to help." I ask as I drop to my knees besides him. "I could message it for you."
Wait! What did I just say?
"That not what I mean." I quickly tell Zeke feeling my face turn red.
But I think he was too busy laugh and being in pain to listen to that.
"If I wasn't in so much pain and if you didn't just try to flatten them, I'd might've taken you up on that."
"Can't you just forget I said that?" I groaned.
"Nope. I'm a guy, we tend to remember things like this."
I thought the best thing now was that I forget what I just said. "Here. Let me help you to the nurse's office."
I offer my hand and I'm left wondering would he even take it?
Zeke grabbed my hand and I was to 'Whhhaaaa?' to help him up.
He looks at my questionly, "What? You did offer to help me up."
"I know its just you're....sorry." I say as I help hoist him up.
"Hey, you're new here aren't you?. I'm Zeke." He says smiling down at me. I grabbed his arm and put it around my shoulder to help him walk.
"I'm Annika." I tell him. I'm a little hurt he never noticed me, but what do I expect, I wanted to be invisible. "I moved here a couple of months ago. We actually have quite a few class together."
His brows drew down in concentration. "How come I don't remember you. I think I'd remember a pretty girl like you."
I swear my feet decided to do a gravity check just when he called me pretty. I would have fallen again if Zeke didn't have his arm around my shoulders. I could feel my face light up once more. He just called me pretty and I almost fell on my face again. How humiliating.
"Whoa. Are you okay?" Zeke asks me with general concern.
"Uhhuh." was all I managed.
He chuckled. "You're cute when you blush."
Which of course, made my face steam up even more. We were almost to the nurses office by then, and just when I reached forward to grab the handle the door threw itself open and banged into my head.
I felt myself fall backwards, and I saw the ceiling, some blonde girl and Zeke pass in slow motion. I remember my head thunk against the hard linoleum floor. Then lights out.
