I watched Regina run out of the door and I followed after her. When I got outside I couldn't find her. I was too late. I fucked up again. I stood outside for a few minutes because I felt tears burning my eyes. They never fell though. Shit. What do I do?
I walked inside and searched for her everywhere but still she was nowhere in sight. I found my parents. "Honey what's wrong?" Mom asked. "Have you seen Regina?" I asked. They both said no so I went on with my search.
I checked the whole building and couldn't find her. She must've left and not came back.
I grabbed my keys and Regina's purse and ran out. I obviously caused a scene because people were staring at me. This town is nosey so it's no surprise.
I sped to my house and ran up the stairs to the door. To my surprise, the door was locked. I opened it anyway and ran upstairs to search for Regina but she wasn't there. So I went back downstairs. I walked back out the front door and that's when I finally found her.
Regina was sitting on the porch with her arms wrapped around her legs and her face in her knees. She was obviously crying.
"Regina." I said. She stopped shaking but she didn't look up. She wiped her face and did her best to act like she wasn't just crying. "Don't Emma." She said coldly staring out in front of her. I moved toward her. "I don't want you to cry. Please." I begged. "I'm not crying. Why would I be crying over you. I already told you. I could lose my job." She basically whispered. "You know that's bullshit. If you wanted me you could be with me." She looked at me finally. "Do you want me to lose my job? Over some little fling?" She was so cold.
I turned away from her. "Fine Regina. When you're done acting like this you know where to find me. " I said before I left.
I was at the ball for another hour before I saw Regina walk in. Whether I was mad at her or not I couldn't take my eyes off of her.
That's how it is with her no matter what. She was so crazy breath taking that she commanded whatever room she walked into. She didn't come up to me right away. She did find my family though. She asked Henry to dance.
Why is she making this so hard? I can't believe I got myself into this situation in the first place but I want to hate her. It would make it so much easier if she was cruel and evil. But that isn't her. When you get through her mask and break down her walls you reach this level. That's when you can see she's been through some shit that made her angry. That's the face she wears everyday. But I know her. The real her. The kind and caring her. The sarcastic her. The silly her. That's why this is so hard. I'm in love with her.
As much as I wanted to hate her I couldn't. Besides that I had to make the best of this. I couldn't let my family know we were fighting. So I made my out onto the dance floor with her and Henry.
"Look at both my favorite people. Can I dance with the two of you?" I smiled. Regina looked confused but quickly picked up and smiled back. We all danced together.
Henry was so convinced he should be a professional dancer. He showed us all of these crazy moves I've never seen. I don't think they'd make him a pro though. We were all laughing together and for a while I forgot about my argument with Regina. We even kind of danced together.
The three of us didn't part ways until they announced that it was time to announced the winners from the contests. There was a few. I didn't think I'd win so I took the opportunity to go get a drink. I went to the bar for a beer and drank half of it right after opening it. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. When I opened them, Regina was in front of me.
She opened her mouth to speak but I cut her off. "Please don't say anything." I said. I turned and walked away but she grabbed my arm. That's when our names were announced. We'd won something. I laced our fingers playing along and we walked hand in hand onto the stage. We both waved and smiled awkwardly while standing there. They handed us a plaque that had the words, Best Couples Costume, engraved in it. I laughed a little when I looked into the crowd and saw my mom was really upset by this. I said a quick thank you into the microphone and walked off stage.
"Congrats girls. The costume idea is very lovely." Mom spoke. David nodded in agreement.
I went back to the bar to retrieve my half empty beer. I stood there almost the entire rest of the ball. People came up to talk to me and we had small conversations. Once again Lily came up to me. "Can you just go away please?" I asked. "Hey I didn't make you do anything. Just because you used me to make your girlfriend jealous and now she's pissed at you doesn't mean you get to take it out on me." She said walking away.
She's right. I mean it sounds stupid but it's probably my fault Regina is so upset. I was stupid and did that in front of Regina because I was mad at her. What a dick move Emma. Maybe instead of being a douche to her I should find her and make her want to try this. Tell her how I feel.
So I threw away my empty bottle and went on once again to find her.
