"What?" I asked. "You heard me, I called your social worker, you're leaving, we shall no longer be your foster parents, you cause too much trouble." Margaret told me as soon as I walked into the house after school. "Go pack your things, you're new foster parents wil be here to pick you up in an hour" I stared at her, "How did they find someone willing to take me in? I thought nobody wanted a 17 year old with a tattoo and an attidude problem." " I don't know." Margaret said laughing ,"but I'm glad they did." At that she walked away leaving me to pack the little clothes I owned.
While I was sitting on my bed, packing the last of my belongings, Jared walked into my room. "I'm sorry." he said. "Sorry for what Jared?" I asked without looking up from the clothes I was folding. "For being so awful to you while you were living here, you did nothing to deserve the way I treated you." "I know, I only ever wanted to be your friend, but life is full dissapointment and if anyone would know that, it's me." I slung the bag with my few belongings over my shoulder and walked out of the room. I paused in the doorway and turned around to look at Jared. "Have a nice life Jared."
I walked down the stairs, out the front door and sat down on the porch steps to wait for my life to start over.

While waiting for my new parents to pick me up I admired my surroundings. California truly is a beautiful place. I wonder where I'm going to live now. I was so upset about having to leave in a moments notice I didn't even ask about my new foster parents. I hope they're nice, and that they didn't know about my bad habbit of making things explode.
"Woah." I said in a breathy tone as a scarlet sportscar pulled up in front of house, well what used to be my house. So they were obviously rich. As the couple got out of the car, I was suprised to see that were probably only in their mid thirties, younger than I expected. She, woman, was wearing a necklace with a turqoise gemstone in. As soon as she spotted she smiled warmly and walked over.
"Happy birthday Emily." Her husband said walking behind her. I looked at him quite shocked. It's my birthday? I haven't celebrated it in a long time. "How do you know, if I even forgot ?" I whispered. "I hope you don't mind, but we did a little research on you."
I must have stared at her like she was crazy because she quickly added," Since you are going to live with us." I numbly shook my head and replied," No, I understand ." She rummaged around in her purse and handed me a small black box. "As I said, happy birthday. Go ahead, open it. " I slowly open up the box and gave a little gasp of surprize. In the box lay a necklace almost identical to the one the woman was wearing, except this one had a ruby in it. The excact colour of Megan's nails.
"I can't take this." I said and handed the box back to her. She refused to take it and said,"Of course you can, it's your birthday." "It's your birthday?" Asked Jared from somewhere behind me, but I just ignored him. Looking back at my new parent I said," Thank you so much...ummm." "Oh ,of course how rude of us." The man said "My name Tobi and this is my wife Amanda."
