In the end I bought a simple black dress that went to down to mid-thigh with a V-neck and thin straps. To match the dress I bought silver stiletto heals.
Most of the ride home was quiet. Most of it.
"I like your tattoo, I saw it when you were trying on the clothes. I have a tattoo of stars on my foot, but I like yours better." I was absolutely shocked.
"You have a tattoo?" " I just told you I do, I'll show it to you when we get home." Cindy replied

"Just sit still!"
"Cindy you're hurting me!"
"I'm almost done, beauty hurts!"
Cindy had convinced me to let her do my makeup for the party. Her makeup was already done and looked great. Honestly I don't know how she did it so perfectly in so little time.
"Ok, I'm done. You can look in the mirror now."
I slowly turned around and gasped. I didn't recognized the girl in the mirror. She was absolutely stunning, with high cheekbones and eyes that pop. Cindy had left my hair down in loose curls
My eyes surveyed my body in the mirror and softly cursed. "I forgot about the tattoo, can you hand me some concealer." Cindy looked at me and said " No, I like it, you are going to the party just like you are."

As soon as we got to the party, Cindy ditched me.
I wandered around for a little while, but quickly started feeling uncomfortable. While I was looking for Cindy to take me home, I made a new friend.

"You look a little lost."
"I feel a little lost too!" I replied without thinking. I heard a laugh behind me and turned around. " My name is Hudson by the way." "Emily." I said shaking his hand. Looking at him, it wasn't a hand I mind skaking. He looked like a Greek god but with hazel eyes and black hair.
We found a place to sit and just talked. Maybe I wasn't so bad at making friends after all.
"What's your favorite colour?" I asked Hudson. "Ummm I don't know probably black." He laughed. I could have guessed that since he was wearing all black. "How about you?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "Turqoise and" I put in a dramatic pause "black." I laughed.
Turns out we have a lot of things in common. Both of us love sushi and pizza, we were both seniors and he knew what it was like to start over.
His family moved here from Africa a couple of years back "Africa? What's it like there?"
"Well I'm from South-Africa and as you can see there are not only black people there. And it's not just wilderness either. There are cities with malls and highways and coffe shops and everything. I used to live in Pretoria. The capital city."
"Wow, that's pretty cool. I was born and raised in the USA. I have never even been out of the country."
"Where is she?" I heard someone yelling. " Where is who?" Someone else asked. "Emily!" The first voice replied and I realized with a shock that it was Brendan.
