Chapter 15

[Louis' P.O.V]

I could have sworn that I'd woken up once before earlier in the day, but I figured maybe Harry and I had settled down to take a nap with Fionna. But then I realized my arms were stretched out in the same place that Fionna normally would lay, and I pulled them up in surprise, my eyes flashing open as I looked to check on my baby. However, the empty sheets my eyes fell upon weren't black like mine and Harry's, but a startling white. And Fionna and Harry weren't beside me. The room was dim-lit, grey, and I instantly recognized it as a hospital.

"Oh," I gasped, moving to sit up and feeling a tug on the right side of my abdomen, and then there was a hand on my shoulder.

"Louis, mate," Liam chuckled.

"Liam!" I gasped, looking up to him groggily, and it took my mind a few seconds to focus.

"You're coming off of anesthesia, so you're probably really out of it still," he informed me. "Chris noticed you waking up and went to get a nurse."

"Chris," I croaked. Liam and Chris were around, but I didn't see Harry and my baby. "Harry and Fionna?"

"They're at home," Liam murmured.

"Home?" I shook my head frantically. "Alone? Why aren't they-"

"Zayn and Niall are with them," Liam hushed. "You know Harry can't be seen here with Pumpkin..."

"Pumpkin," a smile flitted onto my face, but then everything slowly started coming back. I was getting up so we could all eat breakfast, but there'd been an intense pain in my side and that's all I remembered. "Did I.... what happened?"

"Your appendix burst," Liam dragged a chair closer and sat next to me. "The pain made you faint. Your appendix is why your side hurt, and why you had a fever earlier this morning."

"What time is it now?" I asked.

"Nearly 8PM."

"What?!" I gasped. "I've been out for that long? Wait... I fainted? Harry, shit, is he okay? He didn't worry, did he?"

"What do you think Louis?" Liam laughed. "How does Harry react every time you're hurt?"

"He can't worry, he does that thing where he shuts down and he won't eat, Pumpkin needs him to eat, I need him to eat-"

"Louis, Louis," Liam interrupted. "He was upset, but he was still taking care of Fionna and Pumpkin. Granted, Pumpkin is probably the only reason that he ate food. Fionna's been eating a little, but because Harry is upset she's upset, too. I guess she keeps looking for you."

"My beebee," I cooed. "When do I get to go home to them?"

"They've been monitoring you, and they say that you're probably good to check-out once you're fully awake, or whenever you feel like it really."

"Well I feel like checking out now," I announced.

"I think Harry will like that," Liam grinned. "Dr. Shell was the one who finally brought the boy back to slight sanity. He was going positively mental, I'm fairly certain. He didn't want anyone taking Fionna from him, and he kept sobbing. Especially once Chris told us that they'd almost lost you on the way to the hospital."

"Lost me?" my brows shot up and my mind reeled. "I almost died?"

"Your body was being poisoned, Lou," Chris suddenly appeared in the doorway, and a nurse bustled in behind him.
