It wasn't long until I finished school, and college seemed far away. My summer-holidays-plans folder was pretty much empty, apart from the few sleepovers and going out now and then for some coffee or shopping, but nothing major.

Since this year my family and I had no plans to go on a holiday, and instead rest at home, I found myself wondering if starting a job would be a good idea. You know, to get used to my halftime job whilst in college. Money doesn't grow on trees – for me, anyways.

'A newspaper girl then?' she shrugged, giving in a half smile.

'No, mum! That's embarrassing and doesn't pay enough.' I said, quite frustrated. I had been searching for an hour or two, and still found no interest for most propositions while flicking through newspapers and online articles.

'God, I'm trying to help you.' She said, quite offended and annoyed, but upset at the same time.

'Sorry, I'm just stressed. I don't even know what I want to go after college.'
'You still have some time, don't stress.' She said, bit the side of her lips and then, after I didn't reply, she said, 'how about a babysitter?'

I took some time to think about it, seemingly took interest in the idea and considered the possible outcomes. I shrugged, not thinking about it much.

'Oh come on! You love children. You know you do. And you never know, maybe the kid you have to look after has a hot brother.' She winked and nudged me on the arm. I smiled and relaxed a tiny bit, then I bit my lip and thought about it properly.

'Maybe,' I said, 'it doesn't seem like a bad idea, actually.' I smiled and so did my mum, then she breathed out a sigh of relief. She stood up and closed the newspaper she was reading. I creased my eyebrows.

'Where are you going?' I asked, puzzled.

'Can't I have a rest from all this? My eyes are starting to hurt. How about you read whose baby you can babysit while I go get a drink?' she raised her eyebrows in question, and I nodded before bringing my attention back to the computer screen. This time changing the search to finally match my decision for my summer and half time college job.
