When I woke up I looked at the clock on the wooden wall in the living room it read eleven o'clock. Eleven o'clock! Oh no I was supposed to meet Harry for lunch. I wiggle out of Blair's hold and grab my phone of the coffee table. I find Harry's name and send, "sorry just woke up. Want a late lunch?" Then I remembered he doesn't have my number in his phone and I feel stupid. I send a second one, "sorry I just remembered you don't have my number. This is Kalli." Ugh, why am I so dumb. I need to get to my apartment, but I don't have a car. Everyone is still slumped so I get up and start making breakfast for everyone. I have all the bacon crispy with buttered toast piled high, and five cups of fresh black coffee. Now I was working on the last bit of food, scrambled eggs. I hear foot steps walking down the stairs and I see Alice, she had a nauseous look on her face. "I'm sorry if I over stepped my welcome. I didn't think you'd mind me making breakfast." I say nervously. "It's fine it's just the baby doesn't seem to like the smell of black coffee or eggs." Alice says covering her mouth now running to the bathroom. I felt horrible. I cracked the kitchen window to help get rid of the smell. Alice went upstairs to lay down and rest. Everyone else slowly woke up and got food taking Tylenol and going into the shady living room.
Now that everyone was up and moving I was hoping someone would take me home, but everyone seemed to tired or sick to move. I felt panicked. I didn't want to cancel on Harry. I remember I texted him and get my phone to see any messages. Only one, "it's fine. I just woke up. How about two?" I sent back a sounds great, now more panicked because it was twelve-thirty and I wouldn't have time to get ready if I don't leave now. I slowly walk up to Blair feeling guilty. "I know you aren't that close to me and you don't know me that well, but could I please barrow your car? I'll only drive it back to my place and leave the keys in my apartment. When you need me to pick you up I'll come get you." I say so desperately I feel my voice crack. She squinted at me hanging her keys out saying, "don't worry about the ride. I'll be spending the night here." I grabbed the keys and my purse and ran out. I looked at my phone and it said twelve-thirty. I step on the gas and made it back in fifteen minutes. I ran into my apartment and changed into a new pair of jeans and a white blouse. I looked in the mirror and thought I looked too dressy and changed into a Rolling Stones t-shirt and decided that would have to do. I only had thirty minutes left. I ran into the bathroom and smeared on some mascara and eye liner, and straightened my hair. Then I hear my phone go of in the kitchen. I grab it and read the caller ID, it said Harry.
"Hello." I said as calmly as I could. "Hey I'm out front when your ready to go." He said. "Ok I'll be right out." I say hanging my phone up. I grab my keys and purse and head out. I get into Harry's car and here Journey playing. I just start laughing. "What's so funny?" Harry asked smiling. "Oh... Nothing, Blair and Ava where drunk singing this last night." I say giggling. "Oh wait you don't know them, sorry." I say embarrassed now. Why do I always do this in front of him. "Actually I know Blair and Ava. I went to high-school with both of them. I dated Ava's sister Harper ." He said smirking. "Oh." I say. I didn't see him dating someone like Harper. So superficial and serious. "Yeah I was quite a ladies man, but you know I have to be more serious now." He says seriously then starts laughing. "So you and Layla don't date?" I ask as monotone as possible. "Of course not. We are just friends with benefits." He said matter of factly. I think he saw my face when he said that. "What do you not use that term in America." "Um... ...I..We do its just I didn't think you do that." I stammered. " "well I'm not a type of guy that settles down. I don't ever plan on getting married or having kids." He said like it was yesterday's news. Maybe Blair was right but I'm so confused. We finally get to the diner Harry said we should get our "late lunch." It's small and has a sixties theme going on in it. We walk in our waiter with a big puffy checkered board dress takes our order. I didn't want to be a pig but I haven't ate since lunch yesterday. I ordered a BLT with fries and a milkshake. "Don't worry I'm paying for my meal." I said when I saw Harry's face. His bright green eyes popped out of his head and his lips pursed like he was trying to hold back his dimple showing my smile. "I've just never went out with a girl that actually ate food." He said laughing. "That's because you date those superficial pre-Madonna girls." I blurt out. I slap myself on the inside. "I'm so sorry." I say again. Harry laughed, "you think you got me all figured out huh. And those superficial girls are hot." I rolled my eyes. "Of course you like those girls with cake faces." I blurt again. "I'm sorry. Again." I say. "No. It's fine, I like hearing different points of views. That's how we learn about the world." He said seriously.
The waitress came up with our food and I dug in like I was starved. Harry laughed and said, "you sure do love food." I looked up and said, "I take my food very seriously." We both laughed and finished our food debating our views on religion the rest of our meal. It was a very passionate conversation that everyone else in the diner misstated for arguing. Harry believed in science and I'm a very spiritual person with Cristian roots, especially growing up in Nashville. We didn't really see eye to eye at all on that topic. But it was so interesting to hear his "scientific" ways. I really had nothing in common with him but there was something about him that made me want to be around him more and more every second I spent with him. When he drove me home before I got out of the car I worked up the courage to say, "will you call me sometime?" Harry laughed and said, "yeah sure." I went to my apartment looking at my phone it read, five o'clock. We were out pretty long for just a lunch date. I decided since my courage was on my side today I'd go back to Alice and Fergus's house and hang with who ever was still there and so Blair could have her car back.
I actually find my way back to the cottage like house only getting lost once. I came this time prepared, I brought my to go toothbrush and mascara. I went to ring the doorbell when the door went rushing open. Fergus was yelling on and on something to Alice and she was too. I walked in to so a teary eyed Alice with flushed cheeks. Blair was holding her in her arms while Ava and Harper where waving her face and telling her it would be ok. I walked over to Blair and asked her what happened. "Nothing they just go at it a lot and in front of people so she gets even more upset." Blair said rolling her eyes. I decide that I shouldn't stay not wanting to intrude on there problems and I wasn't close enough to them to help. I look at my phone and realized I only had on other friend in this country, I called Harry almost wishing I didn't but he said he'd be here in thirty minutes. I told Blair and sat out front while I waited. They had breathtaking hand made wooden rocking chairs. I sat and watched the sun set, enjoying their beautiful view. By the time the bright moon and the Galaxy was present Harry pulled up. I hopped up and got into his car. "Thanks so much, I totally owe you." I say before he had a chance to speak. "Yeah you do, and your going to pay me back now." He said. "How is that?" I smiled. "Your going to dinner with me and my friends." He said pulling out of Alice's driveway. "Awesome!.... Sorry I just really need to make more friends in this town. I've got Blair and her friends, who I'm not close to. And you." I said thrilled I'd get to meet more people. "I'm glad your so chirpy about this." He said smiling. The rest of the ride to wherever we where going to eat we listened to the radio and discussed the music. Occasionally he would bust out singing the music, he was actually pretty good, but he was convinced to make me sing with him. I kept telling him I was bad but he wasn't budging, neither was I though. We pull up to a hip looking dinner with a line out the door. Before I could say anything Harry says, "don't worry my friends have a seat already." We get out of the car and enter the dinner, it's karaoke night and everyone is going crazy. We go to the back corner and I see three guys. A short blonde boy with an American flag t-shirt on named Niall. Next to him is Liam he was handsome and jumped up when Harry and I came in, "who is this charming girl?" He said shaking my hand. I smiled and blushed, Harry then gave Liam a scolded look and introduced me to all of them. The last one who was in the corner Louis was on the phone and I couldn't see him because he was turned away. "Where the hell is Zayn?" Harry asked almost angry sounding. "He bailed again, of with his girlfriend." We sat down and the first thing I said without thinking was, "you like America?" I say looking at Niall. Niall laughs and then he talks about Ireland and how that's his homeland never to be understated. By the end of the night I made friends with Louis and Niall who bickered with Harry the whole night. I've never been so comfortable around strangers before. We all plan to hang out at the local yogurt shop the next day, feeling my worried that I'll be alone with so many guys I ask if I can bring Blair. She is comfortable with new people especially guys, I didn't have very many guy friends back home. "Louis looked up when I said Blair and asked how I knew her. Then all the guys went on how he's had a crush on her since high school. When we left Harry asked me if I wanted to go to his place before the yogurt tomorrow. Before I gave myself time to think I just say yes, I want to kick myself for being so stupid. Alone with Harry. That's scary, I don't know how I feel. He's so different from me but so sweet too.
