"She's not coming up!" Riley screamed into my ear.

"Coach?"

"Get her out of there," he instructed.

I hesitated.

"Now!"

I dove into the water and picked Sam up from the pool floor.

I'm such an idiot," I thought.

I carried her out of the pool and laid her on the ground.

"Sam?" I whispered in her ear.

She opened her eyes and looked at me. She closed it and after a while she spoke.
"You suck," she said with a weak smile.

I hugged her tightly against me.

"I will fix you. I promise."

"That's all for today see you tomorrow," Coach Franklin said as he left the swimming pool.

I crawled out of the pool and crawled all the way to the grass I laid on my stomach and closed my eyes.

This peace was interrupted by my little sister's singing.

"...You made me cry too many times
Won't spend all my tears
You're not worth the price
So I'm not gonna waste anymore
Mascara on you-u-u-u-u, you-u-u-u-u..."

I joined her in her singing. After all 'Mascara' is a very catchy song. She has an amazing voice and plans on becoming famous. I'm happy for her. She's sixteen years old but attends another school it would totally be weird if we were in the same school because we would be in the same class. She started school early making her sixteen in grade eleven.

She packed my my bag for me and we walked to the parking area. She placed a towel on the seat.

"No way in the world are you getting my seat wet," she warned.

I raised my hands in the air, "I wasn't planning to but since you--"

"Come on Aaron don't be unfair."

"I'm not being unfair I'm being fair with 'un' as a prefix."

"Ha, ha, ha, very funny," she said sarcastically with a small smile. She threw my bag in the boot and got into the passenger's seat. I got into the drivers seat and started the engine.

'Helplessly' by Tatiana Manaois began to play in the car.

Emily started singing and I joined in the parts I knew.

"...
See you distract me, but I'm distracted without you.
I don't know how to focus baby teach me how to.
Cause I'm standing still again
But if you love me, just like the way that I love you
I wouldn't mind a little comforting from you.
Why do I let you in my head?..."

This part made me think of Sam. I smiled. Her blond curly hair, her little nose, her smile. She was perfect. Maybe I'm perfect for her. We could have a family together and have our little swim team and live at the beach. I sighed quietly. Dreams. That's all they'll ever be.

I'm totally clueless of where my feelings for her blossomed but I'm gone. My heart's all hers. I feel stupid for leaving her under the water for so long. That wasn't a smooth move at all. Coach gave me extra laps because of that but it was all his idea.
