The whole series is about Greek gods in the mortal world....and sometimes these gods have children with the mortals and the offspring of a God and a mortal is termed as demigod or half-blood.
There are basically 12 Olympians. The Big Three are Zues,Poseidon and Hades. Zeus is the king of the gods and also the Lord of the sky. Poseiden is Lord of the sea and Hades is Lord of the dead. Mount Olympus is situated on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building in Manhattam. Hera is the Queen of the gods and wife of Zues. The underworld that is where the dead people go after they die is under L.A. and it is where Hades live.
The gods move along the western civilization so currently the Mount Olympus is above Empire State Building.
The series is focused on Greek Mythology. Every book of Percy Jackson series follows his adventures in his point of view. Each book is based on different Greek Hero's adventure.
