If there was a time in her life Sophia thought she was dead, this was it.

"What happened?" Her head felt heavy and like it was spinning, there were white dots hoovering in the dark of her eyes, and cold. She was shivering, her face was pressed against the wooden floor. The girl opened one of her eyes slowly, and then the other. All she could see was her dark hair that had fallen to her face when...

Ow, she remembered... The pale, slender man, the soul burning green irises. Was he still there? Around her everything was awfully silent, not even Balthazar could be heard.

She raised her right hand to the back of her head, feeling the small bump caused by the blow she took, and winced at the touch. How long had she been knocked out?

Gathering the strength she had, Sophia got up to her knees and finally to her feet, leaning on the wall for support.

-Mortal!

Sophia lifted her head carefully to where she thought the sound had come. Right in front of the girl, there he was, his body framed by the faint light of the afternoon that was coming though the living room's window. His raven hair falling loosely around his face and shoulders, clearly drying from the water. The silky voice sounded as if he was at the end of a tunnel and the petite curly haired lost her balance, sliding to the floor against the wall... that was a dream.

"It has to be!"

-No...

-Hush now, and listen to me. I am L-

-Loki, - she breathed, panic running through every fibre in her body. Here he was, it was not a dream. The war criminal that caused havoc in Stuttgart and nearly destroyed New York City was right in front of her.

Loki's eyes studied her. He could feel the immense fear the midgardian felt and had to be quick before she reacted although, deep down, he knew far too well she was petrified.

-I have some matters that have to be dealt with, and I'm taking your residence. You will serve me during my staying. - Loki informed, towering over her. The creature below him was pathetic, irrelevant, but it would have to do.

Sophia was trying to process what she'd heard, her eyes falling to her knees, pressed against her chest. She was trapped wasn't she? Loki could easily reach her at the mere impulse of running away, he could kill her if he so much desired.

A muffled sound rang through the hallway. It was Sophia's phone, still in her bag. Loki looked from where the sound came, to her.

She began to get up, but the Norse god ruthlessly gripped her arm making her face him. The girl was sobbing now, from the pain and fear. He was going to kill her, no doubt about that. A loud sob came from Sophia's throat, and hot tears streamed down her cheeks. He grabbed her neck with his spare hand, locking the girl's stare with his.

-I will allow you to communicate with your family, but say one wrong word and you can be sure I will kill them.

An hour passed by since Loki's warning and Sophia could feel the calm and clear thought coming back to her. This was, as odd as it seemed, a hostage situation. All she had to do was to stay focused and try her damn hardest not to anger the god or she, and most likely her family and friends, would be killed. Loki had taken a sit in the living room's sofa, he had his vision fixed on a point, probably lost in thought, when once again, the insisting tone of the girl's phone echoed through the apartment.

He looked at her, his eyes holding the previous promise. Sophia moved to her bag and got the small vibrating device. She took a deep breath, prepared to lie to Andy.

-Thank God! Are you alright, I've been trying to reach you for ages! I thought something'd happened! - it was her mother, she sounded worried sick and had fading panic in her voice.

-Mum, yes I-I'm fine just-

-Something's wrong Sophia Marie, what are you not telling me?! - Andy interrupted.

Sophia looked over her shoulder to face Loki standing now, not far from her.

-I got soaked coming home.... - that sounded like some truth, her voice could pass by a sore throat and stuffed nose. -Sorry for not answering the phone.

Andy was giving her a lecture for not carrying an umbrella and how pneumonia isn't something to be taken lightly, and saying that as soon as she got back from her parents in Portsmouth she would go to Sophia's house and make a lifetime supply of some very strong, vitamin filled vegetable soup. The girl was pacing up and down her hallway, trying -unsuccessfully - to avoid Loki's green eyes that made her shiver every time.

-Alright, I have to go now, but for the love of all that's sacred stay warm and don't go outside.

-I won't. Bye mum, love so, so much!!

-Look who's missing her mother now... - the older woman giggled on the other side. -Love you more sweetheart!

Soon as she hung up, Loki walked towards her, extending his hand. Sophia fiddled with the phone in her own much smaller hands. She had to get some sort of control over the situation, and if that meant talk to the man towering over her, that's what she would have to do.

-I have... some things I want to discuss with you. - she said, trying to sound convincing and secure. Loki raised an eyebrow at this sudden and pathetic display of confidence.

-I'm listening.

"Here goes nothing..."

-You have power over me, you want me to serve you while you're here and I have to obey you if I want my family to live. - she began, using her diplomatic way of persuasion.

Sophia wasn't even sure if that was going to work, Loki was looking at her with a completely lack of interest, since she was stating the obvious.

-However, - that made him snap his eyes to her. - you shouldn't keep captive.

Loki swayed his head imperceptibly. Was she really trying to advise him on how to treat her? The nerve of this creature!

-Is that so... - his smooth, almost inappropriate voice said.

-Yes! - Sophia continued, finding it slightly easier to talk to him now that she was passing, or trying to pass, her point. -That same family would miss me and eventually inform the authorities. They would come and find you. And even if they didn't find you, you'd have to take me away or kill me...

She was talking fast and didn't even thought when the last words came out.

-And th-that way your matters would be put in standby...?

That was unexpected to Loki. That midgardian girl was trying to riddle him like he was... well, like he was Thor. That oaf was tricked by the simpler words sometimes. And here she was, expecting some assumptions to chage his mind.

Sophia's anatomy must have changed, she could feel her heart in her ears and throat.

"That was a terrible idea, and you're gonna die for watching to many movies! Trying to reason with the kidnapper, for goodness' sake!"

Loki stretched his hand again, showing the girls phone.

-I'm not entirely sure you're aware of my powers. I could kill you and make it look like you'd taken your own life. - he saw the shocked look on her face. -You can have it, but I will know if you do something you shouldn't.

She hesitantly picked her phone again.

-Thanks, I promi-

-I had a long journey and my stomach is craving for sustenance. Your work has begun. - and said that he left to the living room.

9:45 p.m. ... that would be a very long night.
