Chapter Ten

Irwin took the longest to fall asleep, at first his speech began to slur and he'd loose his train of thought but he pressed on. When he asked me for another beer I crushed up the remaining pills my sweaty hands found, and put them in. One minute he was standing up and the next he fell backwards unconscious. Ivor, Tom, and Malinda looked up at me and I urged them to be quite. I pull the Key out of my pocket and walked over to Tom.

"What does this unlock?" I say watching sweat fall from his face.

"That's the key to the main house, it's left for emergencies." I nod and head to the kitchen grabbing a knife and a pair of scissors cutting his ropes. "Letty my car is parked up there,it's the only one they haven't tampered with."

Stretching ounce off the hook, I pass Tom everything and tell him to work on Ivor. I couldn't look at him and I didn't want him to look at me. Unknotting the belt off Malinda's neck the welt is there and I help her to her feet.

"I'm sorry," I apologize. "If I knew they would have done this I would have grabbed some pain killers for you."

"What do you mean?" She says before the lightbulb went off. "Is that why they feel asleep so suddenly?"

I nod and she smiles a bit. Yanking her arm from me Malinda takes the bag of jewelry and pulls them to her chest like a child. I go into the kitchen and grab an sandpaper bag and hands it to her.

"Double bag it because there's already a hole." Taking it from me she snarls back.

"If it weren't for you we wouldn't be in this mess right now."

"Malinda there thugs, ounce they found out who was here they would have tried to kill us either way." Tom says Rex's pistol in his pocket.

"Jesus Do you even know how to fire that damn thing?"Malinda shirks. "Give it Ivor."

"Get us to your car." Ivor comes back into the Room holding a flash light in his hand."Everyone stay close, I have a feeling this is going to die soon."

"All the way up to the second cabin we won't need the light." I say. "That should preserve the battery."

When file out the door and I went last. A bad feeling hung to my back and I urges everyone to hurry up.

"Your not going anywhere!" A cracky screech came out.

Skitter look at me bloodshot eyes and fingers curled in like a cat. I didn't know who I pushed but I did as hard as I could.

"Go, go, go, go, go!" I cried out and Skitter started running towards me.

I moved out the way but not fast enough. Grabbing onto me with those hanger nailed his teeth were sharp like a shark. I threw my fist in the air and scream until he pushes me up against the wall. My breath escaped my body, but I fought Skitter off before he could wrap his hand around my throat. The bedroom flashed into my mind and he was banging my head into the ground.

A shot went off and a warm spray of blood drenched my face. Skitter had a death grip on me and both of us slammed to the ground an loud crunching sound following. All the thoughts in my brain seemed to ooze out and pain I can not describe clung to the back of my head. Black spot filled the corners of my eyes and Skitters body felt extremely heavy on top of mine. I could hear shouting in the distance.

"I'm so sorry, I-." Tom cut himself off. "We need to go."

"You capped the bastard?"Malinda yelled at him. "What the fuck do you mean your sorry?"

"Letty!" Ivor screams. "Letty!"

"Ivor I'm sorry." Tom yells. "We half to go."

"What if you missed ." He says.

"I didn't." Tom says. "I wish I did but I didn't."

Things go silent but I'm screaming. Why can't they hear me, how come they aren't listening, how come they're pretending like I wasn't saying anything? I'm not dead! I'm not dead! Come back! Everybody seem to grow farther and farther away. Tears streaming down my face, my throat hurts and suddenly everything goes numb.
