"You always liked the beach?" Daniel asked Kathryn one afternoon they were sailing in the beautiful sea of Subic.
"Kung aasarin mo lang ako stop asking na.." Kathryn said not facing him. She knows that he's fond of making her skin color a subject of his jokes ever since biyaheng forever started.
He realized it and the quirkiness of his laughing voice surfaced "No..no.. Love, di kita aasarin.. Seryoso ko sa tanong, bakit mo gusto lagi sa beach?" Daniel pulled her one arm so she would face him.
"Why don't you like it here? It's very peaceful kaya." Kathryn said resting her head on his beating chest, his arms automatically snakes from her back to her tummy.
"Siyempre gusto. Pero alam mo kung bakit ko gusto dito? Dahil naalala ko first love ko." Kathryn's smile slowly washed off her beautiful face. First love.
First. She knew it in herself that it wasn't her.
Daniel felt her stiffened so he said something again. "Sa beach ko rin kasi naamin sa sarili ko that I was already falling for her. Ganito din, sunset." he tried to search her face pero yumuko na si Kathryn.
"Teka lang I'm hungry.." nagdahilan siya, Kath didn't feel like listening to his story about his first love. She was about to get up and go somewhere para hindi lang marinig ang kwento ni Daniel. Hindi sa insecure siya, it wasn't the case. Wala lang talagang babaeng hindi magseselos sa first love ng mahal niya. It was awkward for her dahil hindi siya sigurado kung anong reaction ang maibibigay niya.
"Wait ako na." Daniel volunteered. Tumayo siya at pumasok sa loob and he came back with cupcakes on his hand. Umupo uli siya sa tabi ni Kathryn.
"Sunsets are special to me dahil din sa first love ko." he continued while peeling off the cupcake from it's cup and offered it to her "O eat na.." he said.
Though jealousy is building up in her system she opened her mouth and ate the piece of cupcake in his hands.
"She must really be special." she blandly said while munching the food he gave her.

Hindi na uli nagsalita si Daniel but he saw how Kathryn watched the waves and not giving him another glance. But he wanted her to look at him again.
Sunsets and the sea always reminded Daniel of his first love and probably his last too. It reminded him of that woman he gave his heart and all to. It reminded him of that woman who made sunsets his beginning, who made sunsets much more beautiful for him. It reminded him of Kathryn. Kathryn is Daniel's first love.
