I lifted him up and set him on the floor, watching him sit on his knees and continue to play with patches.

"I'm gonna go check up on everyone baby boy, it'll only take a second." I said, kissing the top of his head.

I walked to the kitchen and dialed Steve's cell

While it rang I watched Tony play with his stuffed toy, still obviously shaken.

"-uce? You there?" I heard the last of Steve's sentence, still caught up in watching Tony.

"Oh, yea sorry." I chuckled.

"No problem, what did you need?" Steve asked.

"Just seeing if you guys were okay." I replied, leaning on the counter.

"We're good, there's just been a couple robberies, nothing major. How are you and Tony?"

"I'm okay, Tony is, well, we'll talk when you guys get home." I muttered the last part.

"Is he hurt?" Steve asked, sounding scared.

"No, no. He's fine, physically, just- yea, he's fine, see you when you get home?" I asked.

Steve sighed. "Yea, keep me updated on Tony, please. We'll be home in a few hours.." He said before hanging up.

I put my phone on the counter and returned to the living room, picking up Tony when he made grabby hands.

"What's up sweetheart?" I asked shifting him to my hip.

He just put his head on my shoulder and clutched onto patches.

"Mommy and daddies should be home soon, so how about we get you down for a nap?" I asked, already moving to carry him up to his room.

"No nap!" He yelled.

"Tony, you need a nap." I said sternly, walking up the stairs.

"No, no, no, no, no!" Tony said, regretting being picked up.

I ignored his pleas and walked into his room, picking up his suitcase and laying that and him on the bed.

Tony seemed to be so young that he just laid there and continued to cry quietly, not helping me at all when I slipped off his clothes, leaving him in his pull-up.

"Tony I need you to lift up baby." I said tapping his thigh.

He continued to lay pliant, sucking his thumb through his shuddering breath.

I sighed and awkwardly lifted up his legs with one hand and slipped off his pull-up.

After that I grabbed a diaper from his bag and put it under him, laying his legs down and rolling my shoulder.

"You must be cranky, with all this crying you're doing." I said as I tapped up his diaper.

His crying didn't even falter as I slipped him into a lime green onesie, and clipped a dummy clip onto the front of it, slipping the white attached dummy into his mouth.
