“Hell Week”
“Aaaaahhhh!!!!!”
I shouted making my head wince more. I lay on top of my bed feeling devastated. I rubbed both of my hands on my face. I’m staring at the ceiling thinking about this week. I almost jumped when my phone started ringing. I looked over the screen and saw that my best friend is calling.
“Hello?”
“Hey man! Have you started it yet?”
I looked over the floor and there I saw my unfinished project. That thing looked like I haven’t started doing them, but for real? It’s been almost two hours I started sorting them out. Sighing in defeat, I manage to answer,
“No.”
“No? Are you insane? That thing costs 5 days to do. It’s very hard. And you haven’t even started doing them?”
I swallowed the lump in my throat. He’s right. That project costs 5 days to work on. And I haven’t even started making the real thing. In fact, this is hell week.
“I know. No need to rub it in my face.”
“I’m not rubbing it on your face Kev, I’m just reminding you that, projects like those are supposed to be work on as early as possible.”
Closing my eyes, I managed to respond to him.
“I know, I know no need to remind me Jade.”
“Good. Anyway examinations are coming near making this hell week. So as a concerned friend, I’m asking you if you want to come with me. I’ll be having my tutor and I want to help you with the subjects you’re troubled at. So are you up for it?”
Tutor? Me? Having a tutor? No way! I hate studying as a matter of fact. I’m only doing these projects because I don’t want to be expelled.
“No. I don’t want a tutor, I don’t need that.”
I heard him sigh.
“Well okay then. I’ll be going now.”
We said goodbyes and then we both hung up. I look again to my unfinished project. What to do?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday morning I woke up. I dress into my normal jeans and drove for school. Just on time my class was about to start. Good thing I’m not late just for today.
“Good Morning class. As you can see next week will be your final examinations. And projects are all due this week. Since all subjects are required to have one subject to be submitted, I’m giving you one.”
With what my teacher had just said, I heard all my classmates moan in annoyance. What the hell? I have never read that on the protocol!
“Hush now or I’ll give two projects!”
She said with force. Because of that, my classmates did shut their mouths.
“Okay, as I was saying I’m giving my project and it is due this Friday, submit one and that will pull your grades up. Fail to submit one? I’m sorry, it’s either you’ll fail or get expelled. You all know that this school doesn’t give summer classes to pass you up. So I suggest you take all things seriously. Understand?”
We all responded and then she discussed what we are supposed to do on her project. And again, I didn’t understand a thing. Time flew quickly and guess what? Three projects are given today. Isn’t that so nice? Oh please. I went home and stared at my notebook wherein all my projects are written. So for Tuesday I have 4 projects line up and I haven’t even started doing one. I’m so great! I was startled when I heard a knock on my door. It’s my grandpa.
