Eighth block. Five minutes until the bell goes off. I tapped my foot impatiently and payed close attention to the large school mandated clock the hung above the teachers desk. Algebra had been a bore, and my teacher, like every other, ignored me. So I had been able to stare and not really work all class.
I looked down at the red spiral notebook I had been doodling in practically all year and mentally blanched at the picture that occupied the most recent page. A hooded figure had its back turned to me, but the huge wings were spread high and wide, the scratchy ink of my black pen made the feathers look far too realistic.
I hadn't drawn this.
Flipping through the book once more I noticed that every other page was marked in pencil or red and blue pin, but never black ink. I didn't even own a black pen. The bell rung, and as hoards of highschoolers poured into the hallway I simply let myself get carried off by the waves of hormonal teenagers, lost deep in thought. I wandered out into the courtyard, barely paying attention to where I was heading. Letting my feet carry me further away, I almost didn't notice my mistake until it was too late. A chill went up my spine, causing the tiny hairs on the back of my neck to raise in alarm. I reached for the bundle in my jacket, but a massive wall of fur tackled me from the side. I tried to scream but the wind was knocked out of me as we rolled across the ground and into the shadows beside the school cafeteria, comlpletely concealed. Kicking and wiggling, I bucked and shook my head in a wild attempt to get away. The pressure lighten, and for a short moment I could see the creature clearly in the daylight shadows.
It was enormous, with a powerful body covered in senewy muscles coiled and rippling under it's shaggy black fur. The ears were erect, it's face was pointed and wolf like. The purplish lips were pulled back to expose its glistening canines that hung a bit below it's black gums. To say the eyes were red would be an understatement. It was like looking into a raging inferno of hate and blood lust, and as I gazed into the glowing orbs I felt rooted to the ground by fear. But the worst part was the smell. The scent of a thousand decaying corpses clung to the beast like a sickly colounge.
As I sucked in a quick breath the creatures muzzle pulled back in what appeared to be a feral grin. I gasped in fear, but stood my ground as the wolf-beast circled me like easy prey. I could see the intelligence in its eyes, but it was begining to cloud over by something all to common to predators. Hunger. I glanced down to see that the side of my hoodie had been ripped open where the creatures talon like claws had penetrated my skin and left a thin trail of blood oozing through. My head snapped up to see the wolf-beast pounce, and I dove under it just in time to see it crash into the wall where I had been standing. I quickly unravled the bundle and gripped the dagger tightly as the beast shook it's head wildy and whipped around to growl savagely at me. It was pissed. It lunged a little clumsily, so I skipped to the side and pivoted, bring the dagger down and slashing its thigh. It howled in pain, and I watched in amazement as the gash I had made in it's side sizzled and smoked and eventually healed. The beast once again charged at me, but as I attempted to jump out of its path the creature struck me with in the leg with its paw, causing my feet to slip from under me and the dagger to fly out of my hand. I watched in exasperation as it landed ten feet away, but before I could crawl to it the monster was on top of me, snapping at my face. Luckily I still managed to retain my bookbag, so the beast had to rip furiously through the tons of textbooks and binders to get to my throat. I tried to army crawl towards the dagger but the weight was too much and I realized I was pinned to the ground. In one last desperate attempt, I flipped over and drew my leg up, kicking with all my might. To the suprise of both the beast and myself, the creature went soaring. It smashed into the cafeteria wall once more, only this time the force from the kick completely dazed it, and I watched as it stumbled and tried to regain its balance. As the monster turned to me I could see the pure hatred in it's eyes. I knew I would be dead soon if I didn't end this, I turned and raced for the dagger, knowing the creature would follow. Not even bothering to check, I grabbed the blade and whipped around, plunging the dagger down with all my might.
A dog-like whine escaped the beast as the dagger burried itself into the creatures head, hilt deep. I watched in horror as the red eyes slowly dimmed and became lifeless, and soon the body began to desintegrate. The corpse passed into ash, leaving the outline of the horrible monster on the grass. My hands shook so badly the dagger fell from my grasp, and as I fell forward to the ground, I could barely swallow what had just happened. My breathing became shallow, and as the adrenaline wore down I realized the cut on my side was turning green, asif the creatures claws had been poisoned. It took a minute for the pain to catch up, but when it did I involuntarily fell face first, writhing on the grass. Little black spots danced in my vision, and for the first time I welcomed to blackness that consumed me.
So, is it good so far? Do you like it, is it horrible, am I doing something wrong? Leave a comment and heart it or whatever, show me some love people! Let me know if I should continue on with this story!!
Sincerely
