Aimee and her dad put the last box in the moving van and locked the back. Aimee watched as her father walked to the front of the car to tell the driver that he could go and they would leave soon. He walked back to her. "We should probably go to the bathroom before we leave. I'll go first." He told his daughter.
"Okay." She said and walked back into the house with him. As he went to the bathroom, she went to her now empty bedroom. She closed her eyes and leaned against the wall. Memories of the house flooded her mind. She carefully avoided the memories with Artie in them. She had been in this house her whole life. She remembered practicing for the dance competition, playing with Barbies, baking cookies with her mom, amongst other memories.
Aimee heard the toilet flush and the sink run. It was her turn for the bathroom. She sighed and went in. She took her time washing her hands, knowing that she would never do that in this house again.
Her dad was waiting for her in the car by the time she came outside. She got in the car, turned the radio on to a station that was playing "100 Years" by Five For Fighting, and her father started to drive. She stared off, out of the window, looking at her house for as long as it was in view. She mentally said goodbye Lima, Ohio.
Once they were at their new house in Maine, instead of meeting the neighbors, Aimee kept to herself, and worked on decorating and arranging her room to be very different than her old room. Her thoughts were, new house, new beginning. She just hoped that her new school would have a dance team. Her dad had specifically chosen a 6-12 school, so that she wouldn't have to switch schools again in just a year.
(A/N: Yes it is short, but it's a transition chapter.)
