After both signing out at different times we got into Mr Scott's car. It was a dark blue BMW with dents and scratches all over it. Inside it was spacious but bags of old Chinese take outs and crumpled receipts made the car cramped.

"Sorry about the mess. I haven't been bothered to clean it" Mr Scott spoke quickly whilst scratching the back of his head.

I just nodded not wanting to throw up again.

He coughed awkwardly and started the engine. Half way through the journey he pulled in at a petrol station. He motioned with his finger for me to wait and he disappeared inside the small shop attached.

I whistled a random tune to try and clear my head but one question was bugging me.

Well it's more like a jumbled expression of my confusion.

Is it okay for me to go to his grans? Do I really know him that well? Should I trust him?...

I pushed the questions to the back of my mind when Mr Scott came back into the car with a bottle of water and a box of ibuprofen.

"These should help clear your headache and make you feel a little better."

I smiled before speaking "Thank you sir"

He shook his head "Call me Kyle outside of school. Mr Scott makes me sound old and creepy."

I laughed slightly before taking two tablets and swallowing them with a few sips of water. When I had finished he took the medicine and chucked it in the glovebox.

"Keep drinking the water, you need to stay hydrated." Mr Sc- Kyle stated before starting up the engine and going the rest of the journey.

It was about 1pm when we arrived at his grans house. It was situated amongst other similar terraces and had flowers in hanging baskets surrounding the porch.

He locked his car before leading the way up the front stops to the wooden door. He knocked three times before waiting quietly.

After a minute or so a small old lady answered the door.

"Oh Kyle!" She said cheerfully giving her grandson a hug and a peck on the cheek before turning her attention to me.

"Kyle. Why have you brought a school girl to my house?" She asked warily.

I rocked back and forth nervously on the balls of my feet, suddenly interested in the slate slabs on the porch floor.

"Gran, this is Piper Harris. She's the girl that Dad was harsh too. She is really ill today and had nowhere else to go plus it's the least I could do after what my father said" Kyle explained smiling slightly

"I can go. Really it's okay. I'll just wait for my mum to get home." I said quickly not wanting to intrude into her home.

"Oh sweetie don't be so silly! You are very welcome to my home. After all it was my son-in-law that made you feel horrible. Come on inside before you get even sicker." She sent me a warm kind smile that I found myself returning. Kyle gestured for me to go in first. I blushed slightly and he just winked before following me inside and closing the door behind him.

The house was very homely and old fashioned. It smelt of old smoke and the strong scent of cookies was clear.

"Piper dear. Lie down on the couch honey. I'll go and get you a hot water bottle and a blanket. Btw please call me Anne" I laughed at the 'btw' before settling down on the couch. I took off my shoes, tie and blazer before lying flat and closing my eyes. Anne came in a few minutes later handing me a water bottle and then putting a warm quilted blanket over me. I smiled gratefully before closing my eyes again. Before I drifted to sleep I felt a warm strong hand stroking my hair back and then warm lips pressed against my forehead...
